Introduction
Eargasm is an online business which sells music CDs and DVDs to its clients. The store does
not have any other medium of sales because it does not have any offline store. Hence, a
website should be set up to enhance sales of the company and it should be set in such a way
that the website should not face any performance related issues and must have all the key
functionalities. The report covers all the aspects of implementation of the website in Joomla
and focuses on privacy and security issues as well.
Implementation Plan
Software Development Life Cycle Approach
The Eargasm website shall be developed using the Iterative waterfall methodology of
Software Development Life Cycle approach. In waterfall model, a linear series of steps are
followed for software development but in real case a scenario, waterfall model is hard to use
hence its iterative version is used for the proposed site development. In iterative waterfall
model, feedbacks from every phase are shared with their preceding phase which is not
present in the traditional water model.
Software Development Life Cycle Steps / Phases
Iterative waterfall model has following key phases:
System Analysis
System analysis is the first phase of iterative waterfall cycle where in the current structure of
online business of Eargasm will be studied to identify the key testable requirements of the
proposed website. It includes gap analysis and finalization of scope of the proposed project. It
also includes finalization of budget and project plan of the website. All the website
requirements are identified and documented to be studied in next step.
System Design
This phase includes finalizing the specifications of hardware and system requirements such as
user interfaces (user experience), network components and programming languages. It
comprises of two sub-stages i.e. high-level design and low-level design stage. In high-level
design stage, functionality of the modules, relationship among the modules and architecture
diagrams of website architecture shall be framed. The proposed website’s architecture will

follow 3-tier architecture: presentation tier, business tier and database tier. The low-level
design stage involves software components. High-level design stage is broken into different
modules. The low-level design stage includes detailed design documents such as sequence
diagram, activity diagram, component diagram and deployment diagram.
System building - Implementation
During this phase, actual coding of the proposed website is performed. The wireframes and
user interfaces of the website’s frontend designed in the previous step are coded in this phase.
Designs which were framed in the last phase are followed during this phase. The database is
coded as per the requirements and data model framed in the last step. In the proposed
website, Joomla is used which does not require any explicit database creation. First of all,
Joomla is configured at the given link of cloudaccess. Then, different plugins are installed to
configure the required features such as gallery etc. Once the entire configurations are done,
then site is tested using various testing strategies as mentioned in the next phase.
System Testing
After development phase, website is tested to ensure that all required specifications and
requirements are followed in the website. Along with this, it also ensures that quality of the
website is maintained and any unlikely bug is discovered before closing the project. The
system qualities which will be tested in this phase include: reliability, scalability, security,
usability, availability, etc. System and user acceptance testing shall be carried out. In system
testing, the site is tested on different underlying browsers such as chrome, internet explorer.
Any defect or bug traced in this phase are logged in a testing tool for creating reports and bug
management.
System Maintenance
Once the website is up and running, there are still some activities left to ensure that it will
have least possible downtime in problematic times such as when a bug is encountered or
perhaps load of website crossing the threshold values, etc. All these activities come under
post-development phase i.e. system maintenance phase. This phase ensures that website is
secured from hacking attempts or unauthorized access by executing regular security updates
after every few days such 15 days interval. Joomla CMS offers various updates for plug-in
and also for itself. Maintenance phase also includes scaling up or down of the website as pr th
new requirements. This phase is an on-going phase which ensures that performance of
website does not adversely affect the site at any point of time.
