INTRODUCTION
Early childhood education is very crucial and vital for the overall development of the
children in their early childhood days. Early childhood care and education (ECCE) involves
preparing a student for more than a primary level school education. Early childhood care and
education (ECCE) mainly aims at the overall development of a child’s social needs, their
emotional needs, and their cognitive needs in addition to their physical needs. It is very
important, essential, and vital to address these needs of a child in order to develop a strong
and broad foundation, which would help them in their whole life in the learning and well
being process.
In the following assignment, two children objects are being selected by the early
childhood educator as the resources for the children`s overall language and literary
development (Mallan, 1999). Those two resources or objects are “The Very Hungry
Caterpillar” book, which is a very famous picture book, which is designed illustrated and
written by Eric Carle and was first published in the year 1969, by the World Publishing
Company and later by the Penguin Putnam publishing company (Evans, 2009). In addition
to “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” book, another object or resources that were selected was a
green color dress for a girl (Patrick & Mantzicop, 2013).
DISCUSSION
1. How the different physical and aesthetic characteristics of the resources selected that
is the green color dress for girl makes it a suitable artifact for the early education of
the children.
Answer: The bright green color dress for the girls along with the “The Very Hungry
Caterpillar” picture book would make a perfect artifact for the early education of the children.
The green color dress for girls would help to grab the attention of the children present and

develop a sense of color within the children. In the following artifact, two-color shade of the
color green was used in the dress for the girls. The use of two shades of color would be useful
for the sense of the color and shade among the young children (Olson, 2013).
The second artifact or educational resources used are the “The Very Hungry
Caterpillar”. It is a colorful bright picture and illustration book, which is very helpful in
grabbing the attention of the kids. In addition to all the colorful pictures and illustrations,
“The Very Hungry Caterpillar” book also has small holes in the book, which makes it looks
as if a caterpillar has eaten has eaten his way through the different pages of the illustration
book. There is also an option of buying a different copy of the “The Very Hungry
Caterpillar” illustration book, which has a small squishy caterpillar, which can be pushed
through the holes as one reads the book. This helps to grab the attention of the children in a
fun playful way.
2. The educational potential of the green color dress for the girl and the “The Very
Hungry Caterpillar” illustration book that would make it a valuable learning artifact
for the children.
Answer: The green color small dress for the girls would make a very suitable learning
artifact for the early education of the children. The bright green color dress for the girl would
help to grab the attention of the children and develop a sense of color among the children. In

would be very useful for the development of a sense of colors among the children. Although
it is a very early stage, it would still serve as an important and vital stepping-stone towards
the development of the cognitive sense among the children at an early age, which is very

the attention and retention capacity among the children. In addition, the cognitive sense
would also help in the logical reasoning capacity among the children in the early age
(Bjorklund & Causey, 2017). The green color dress for girls also has bright colorful pictures
of the different things like fruits and vegetables, along with the picture of the different food
items like the muffins, the candies, the ice crème and many more. The following items would
be helpful in grabbing the attention of the children. These items would help the children to
understand the structure, the color and the shape of the different fruits, vegetable and food
items. It would help the children to get familiar which those food, fruits and vegetable items
at a very early age. Through different games and various fun activities with the learning
artifact and resources, that is the green dress for the girl, the children could understand the
various new things in a much easy, better and faster way.
The second artifact or educational resources used are the “The Very Hungry
Caterpillar”. It is a colorful bright picture and illustration book, which is very helpful in
grabbing the attention of the kids. The story told and mentioned in a book is written in a very
simple captivity and easy to understand text language. The children would be eager to known
what happens next and hence develop the pre reading skills. The book also helps in making
the kids understand and be familiar with the various number and counting systems,
identifying the various kind of food items and days of a the week.

for-
a) Individuals
The following artifacts of the green color dress for girls would make a good learning
artifact for the early education of an individual child. The two bright green shade of color

b) Small Group
The following artifacts of the green color dress for girls would make a suitable learning
artifact for the early education of a small group of kids. The color shade along with the
pictures of different fruits, vegetables in addition to the pictures of the different food items
like the muffins, the candies, the ice crème mad many more helps to grab the attention of the
kids along with the development of the cognitive senses among the kids. In addition, the
second educational resources of “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” to develop per reading skills
among the small group of children with the help of it’s easy to understand story and pictures.

Since the group is a small one, the educator could give proper attention and focus to all
the children. In addition, the educational artifacts and resources would help to increase the
social interaction among the children.
c) Large Group
The following educational resource of the green color dress for girls and the “The Very
Hungry Caterpillar” would not be able to make a suitable learning artifact for the early
education of a larger group of more than seven kids. Since the group is a big one, the
educator could not be able to give proper attention and focus to all the children. In addition,
since the educational resources are limited, it would not be able to suffice the
