EARLY VOTING
A vote is an example of an individual’s formal expression as well as his/her choice
regarding selection of candidates, ballot question or some political parties. Through the
process of voting an individual participates in th democratic process. Early voting, has
emerged as a new concept where the voters can vote before the scheduled election date
(Ashok). Early voting gas its different polling station where people can cast their vote.
Therefore, the essay aims at discussing the method of early voting in the state of the U.S.A
and how it is welcomed by politicians as well as the people of the country.
The USA is one such country that has adopted the technique of early voting in their
state. Early voting in the USA had started in the year of 1992. Though during the first few
years the rate of early voters were quite a few as compared to the number of early voters that
are found today in the USA. The USA has indulged itself in this method of voting so that
there is no excuse for not casting votes to respective representatives (Ashok). The early
voting in the U.S. as well as many states of the U.S. takes place between four and sometimes
even fifty days before the scheduled election date. Early voting in the U.S. is conducted
within thirty states, including the District of Columbia. Some of the states within the U.S. that
follows the process of early voting are as follows- District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia,
Maryland, Massachusetts, New York, Texas, Virginia and other states as well (Ashok). The
political leaders as well as parties get a lot of benefit from the system of early voting as there
is no chance of absenteeism and that all citizens vote without any excuse that helps the
deserving candidate to come into power. Political leaders too involve themselves in the
process of early voting by rescheduling their public campaigns as well as advertisements
(Ashok). Political parties play a crucial role at the time of the election, and therefore, it is
necessary for them to influence the minds of the voting public through campaigns as well as
advertisemnets (Ashok).

However, there are certain advantages as well as disadvantages of early voting. Some
of the advantages of early voting are that early voting is convenient for the residents as this
type of voting helps in decreasing the errors that might arise at the time of voting (Ashok).
Another advantage of early voting is that it increases the participation of the voters and
reduces the rate of absenteeism. Similarly, early voting also reduces a lot of chaos as well as
congestion that takes place on the final day of voting. Furthermore, early voting also saves a
lot of time as well as energy for many voters who find it difficult to vote on the final day of
the election (Ashok). Along with the advanatges there are disadvantage of early voting as
well such as if people are not registered correctly, if they do not get the right ballot then early
voting will not be a success (Lago, Ignacio, and André). Furthermore, early voting involves
only a few people as active voters to participate in the election before the scheduled election;
this, however, costs too much money as the same arrangements needs to be done but for a
small number of people (Lago, Ignacio, and André). Cost convenience is another
disadvantage of early voting. Many inactive, as well as uninterested voters, are forced to
participate in the electoral election that can cause harm to the state and result in the winning
of undeserving candidates (Lago, Ignacio, and André).
Last year many changes were made in the system of early voting in the city of New
York as the country was preparing to indulge itself in the practice of early voting. Throughout
the year of 2019, the election administrators in the city of New York were involved in the
task of expanding the voting days for the process of early voting (Hinman). The voters
experience in the early voting of the presidential election is quite different from the rest of the
years as the election system merged the old as well as a new methods where the lawmakers of
the state not only created early voting program but also authorized the boards of local
