Critical analysis of an incident of
challenging/unproductive behaviour
Introduction
In schools various challenging behavior can be noticed by teachers and supervisors
because at times students tend to do things that are not correct and can be morally challenging.
Such situations arise quite a number of times across the world and it requires immediate
involvement of adults, especially those who are directly related to the children like parents of the
perpetrator and the victimized. It is not like these children do these things just for the sake of it but
because of the psychological impact is has on them or the perception of the matter. It is natural
that children falter when it comes to their moral compass and that is why the children and it is upon
the adults to be forgiving an understanding of the situation and most importantly they should be
making sure that similar behavior is not repeated. This assignment will be dealing with such a
situation in which an adolescent student of a secondary school called Lindsay was subjected to
cyber bullying by her classmates. The case will be looked into for the specifics and repercussions
of the incident will also be looked into to understand what incidents like these have upon the
children who committed it and upon the child it was committed upon. This assignment will be
critically analyzing this incident of challenging and unproductive behavior surrounding
cyberbullying. As the festival coordinator in my school I have been asked by the senior leadership
team to assist the students in gaming an enduring understanding of behavior management theory
so that it contributes significantly to the sustenance of a positive environment in a classroom along
with positive behavior effectively.
The Case
The incident happened in my school, which is a local secondary school in Brisbane where a
new girl who had relocated from cairns quite recently was subjected to cyberbullying. She was
attending the 10th year English school and she was friendly and quite outgoing in nature. Her
friends described her as humorous and nice and all these virtues had fallen on the bad side of her
classmates who were rather envious of her. And one of her female peers along with the help of her
friends had decided to capture a picture of Lindsay, edited in a way that was vulgar, altered sounds
and added unnecessary and unparliamentarily comments only to post it on Instagram and
Facebook, two of the most used social media sites on the internet currently. This video gained
quite a lot of attention on social media and was shared by plenty of people to the point the entire

school came to know about it and started leaving vicious comments on the post and on her
personal social media. This case did not limited self to social media as soon she started facing
physical discrimination and for behavior from other people in the school while attending it. It is
evident that whatever was done was grateful and better is expected from students of the 10th
grade. It is because of this incident that Lindsay quickly slipped into depression and field at
concentrating in school which affected her grades badly and middle feel like an outcast. Subject to
a lot of social humiliation and the loss of social acceptance was too heavy for her to wear and soon
the child refused to to attend school and even start skipping school. This was soon noticed by the
authorities who were shocked at Lindsay skipping school but soon they dug into the matter and
found out the situation that had caused her into taking such a rash step. The teacher stepped in to
help her and take care of the other students who had caused her so much trouble and trauma.
Challenging behavior
Challenging behavior is any kind of behavior that is not normal and is hard to handle. They
deviate from the normal course of action and the normal behavior expected from a person of a
certain age. These kind of behavior can be violent, aggressive or even reported as assault. They
can be either verbal or non verbal and even physical in nature (Kaiser & Raminsky, 2003). In other
words these kind of behaviors tend inflict damage upon the person who is the receiver of this kind
of behavior. This kind of behavior is caused by people who do they do not understand the
consequences of such behavior or are willing to go the extra mile trying to challenge ethics. They
often do not understand the gravity of the situation and even if they do they indulge in such
behavior because it makes them feel better about themselves or more powerful (Smith et al. 2008).
The victims in these cases are mostly people who tend to be gullible or are you scared to stand up
for themselves. Often this kind of behavior originates from the same kind of trauma being a part of
the perpetrator's past. Often inappropriate words are used, offensive language and racist
comments are used to bully, threaten or intimidate a person. Nobody deserves to feel small or fear
because of someone else. Reason is looked down upon because one simply does not have the
right to look down upon someone else's culture just because he or she does not relate to it. This
kind of behavior is also caused by stalking, which is a serious breach of privacy. Often these turn
physical like punching kicking harming or sexually assaulting the other person. With the advent of
the modern age on social media cyber bullying has come into view as a method of making sure
that the world knows about a person being bullied and harming the person's reputation and image
even further (Hinduja & patchin, 2008).

Cyber bullying
Cyber bullying is pulling but which occurs on social media sites with the bullying being
exposed to people all around the world. This is how police make sure that the character
assassinate somebody in front of a lot of people so that everybody comes to judge the victim and
called him or her deserving of what is being done and responsible for it. Cyber bullying has
garnered a lot of attention because of the tendency of bullies to click pictures or videos of what
they are doing and posted on social media to make sure it reaches his or her followers (Hinduja &
Patchin, 2010). This is how the answer that the target is exposed for public shame and so that they
can be harmed more than bullying ever harmed them. This is the reason why the people who are
bullied are often subjected to isolation because people do not want to relate to that person
because of their fear of being judged. the worst part of cyber bullying is that people on the internet
tend to be interested in anything that currently seems negative because negativity often makes
things interesting (Smith et al. 2008). Cyber bullying has caused a lot of suicides because it
becomes really difficult for people to cope with the humiliation your she has faced and since it is
impossible to clarify misconceptions on misinterpretations with all the people who have come
across the video it is only natural that he or she will face people who you will still tend to judge
avoid him or her because of the case (Slonje & Smith, 2008). the worst part of cyber bullying is
how fast it tends to Ghana attention and despite posts being taken down the situation is often
irreversible in nature as people tend to save the same posts and keep copies of it and then
released them into the internet.
Behavior management
Behavior management refers to therapeutic techniques that are required for making sure
your behavior is altered by altering aspects of the environment surrounding an individual. it is
assumed that these aspects contribute significantly to the behavior of the individual however the
behavior of the individual is being considered problematic for people around them and therefore
these aspects require alterations. These changes are meant to help the individual inculcate
positive behavior and positive changes that will be good for him and the people around him. An
increase in positive behavior will help him become much more desirable and will also help him to
be considered as somebody who is much more adaptive in nature (Conroy et al. 2005). Behavior
management is a good way of making students understand that problematic behavior will not be
accepted by the school and it will have serious repercussions in the lives of the people who commit
previous mistakes by not controlling their behavior according to Ideal and moral norms in the
school. behavioral management is an essential part of managing a school because a school is all
about developing human dimensions (McDonald, 2013). School is responsible for the kind of adult
