This presentation discusses the various theories, principles and models of communication in education and training. It covers transactional model, communication cycle, Johari window and more. It also explains how to use these models effectively in teaching, learning and assessing.

2.1 Analysing theories, principles and models
of communication
Communication is the way of having and transferring information and is an important
aspect for forming relation with the learners.
It is important to remove all the barriers coming in the way of effective
communication.
Proper understanding is developed with the key principles and models involved in
communication.

Transactional model
In this model of communication, the receiver and sender will have interchanged roles.
It is also known as circular model for communication.
It means that the sender can become the receiver and vice versa, during a particular
time of communication.
It is the most common type of communication model used in the day to day life.
Examples of transaction model used for communication includes having a face to face
meeting with the students, having an interactive training session where the students will
be sharing their ideas and comments.

Communication cycle
Communication cycles involves conveying and
receiving the messages in an easy to understand
format.
It begins with the formation of ideas displayed by
the sender and then transmitting this message with a
medium to the receiver.
For example, between teacher and student, there
should be two way communication in which both of
them shared the views and understand about a
specific topic as well.

Johari window
This is a technique that is used to help the students
learn in a better way and develop own weak areas
pertaining to relevant topic
There are four quadrants involved in the Johari
window for communication.
Open self is about the information that and
individual knows along with others.

2.2 Use of theories, models and principles of
communication within teaching, learning and
assessing
Communication is the key by which teacher and students will respond.
 Every individual follows a different way for communication.
 There are various types of communication models to be applied within teaching,
learning and assessing.
There is verbal and non- verbal ways of communication.
 Verbal communication is used with words that are passed across different ideas either
through student or teacher

Lesson plan is dependent on the model of communication.
The main aim is to empower the learners from having a child- like interactions to have
more adult based communication.
Non- verbal form of communication is an important key for having sense of one's
thoughts from their non- verbal form of communication.
Moreover, non- verbal communication helps in having a better evaluation of the course
and have better engagement with the learner.

Communication models are diagrammatic presentation of the communication process
and having a visual representation of the whole communication process.
Communication models helps in developing communication skills and boost the
efficiency between a student and a teacher.
The important message is sent by a communicator and is received in form of
feedbacks.
Liner model for communication is a one- way approach for communication while
transactional communication is used for the purpose of interpersonal communication
(Srivastava, and et.al., 2020).

Transactional model is efficient for interactions and communicating in a similar
environment and considering individual aspects.
It helps in talking about the non- verbal communication and allows having a
simultaneous feedback.
 With this model, teacher can share their views and generate a better outcome that helps
to identify which area need to be improved and whether student understand the topic or
