Values under conflict:
It is sated that in the given scenario Snowden harmed the confidentiality of government
by bringing necessary information in front of people. Here some values are under the conflict
due to this act if Snowden. These values are described as under:
Confidentiality: It is the important value which needs to follow by each and every
person who is associated with government and has access of confidential data. Here, government
keeps necessary data and information about citizens of country with an aim to prepare some
effective strategies for their growth and success (Boehme, 2017). And, this data comprises
personal credentials of people which may further use by unauthorized parties and also other
nations. So, it is imperative to keep the data & information confidential and not disclose it in
front of other person.
Legality: There are some legal rules and regulations which have been formulated by
government to ensure the benefits of all the citizens within country. For this purpose, there is a
law called espionage act has been formulated by US government with an aim to prohibited
information obtaining, taking pictures or taking any kind of information with an intention to use
the data for harming nation. So, the value of legality is also under the conflict as per the given
scenario (Abdul Rahman and Ingólfsdóttir, 2018).
Harm caused by Snowden
The most important harm that is caused by Snowden is the harm to confidentiality of information
within country. He disclosed the information containing sensitive data regarding country and its
citizens in front of media without giving any second thoughts that it may harm the whole nation.
In addition, Snowden violated the privacy of government by bringing the data in front of media
which can create serious legal implications in future period of time (Di Salvo and Negro, 2016).
Further, this violation may provide benefit to other nations as they will get access of
confidential information of government. They further utilize the data in preparing strategies to
harm nation. By this, other countries get information regarding defense, security and other
