Effective Communication - A solution for business problems
Effective communication in a business involves the employees listening and understanding the
information being communicated. However, they are expected to give their own opinions about
the matter being addressed. Effective communication consists of the Seven C’s which are
completeness, conciseness, consideration, clarity, concreteness, courtesy and correctness
(Chaturvedi & Chaturvedi, 2013). They aid in the development of a good working relationship
between employers and their staff employees. This leads to improvement in both the morale and
the efficiency of the business organization. Effective communication composes of skills such as
engaged listening, nonverbal communication, managing stress at the moment, emphasizing
yourself in a respectful way. These skills help strengthen the bond of the business staff members
(Guffey & Loewy, 2011). Enabling them to resolve issues arising at the organization. Barriers
like semantic barriers, organizational barriers, psychological or emotional barriers, and personal
barriers tend to hinder effective communication. The implementation of means to avoid these
barriers benefits the business. I agree with the statement that effective communication is the
solution to all human problems in business since it is associated with paybacks such as improved
teamwork, decision-making, and problem-solving capacity (Guffey & Loewy, 2011).
Effective Communication helps Alleviate Anger and Surfaces Issues
Miscommunication is the major cause of many miss-understandings and frustrations in
businesses. Effective communication helps prevent these problems from arising in the business.
Parties involved in disputes are able to negotiate by hearing each other out. Effective
communication helps employees who may harbor bitterness or ill feelings towards others expose
them and give the reason why. An effective measure to avert the dispute is created and business
resumes back to normal (Browaeys & Price, 2015).

Importance of Effective Communication as a Problem-Solving Solution
Effective communication helps in leveraging the expertise that each of the business employees
provides. Each employee has different knowledge and perspectives that ought to aid in problem-
solving in the business (Hänninen & Karjaluoto, 2017). Effective communication portrays to the
staff that employees’ contributions are greatly valued and that they encourage extra contribution
to the business problem-solving process. Effective communication enables assessment of
impacts and downstream implications as the employees and management are able to address
their different opinions about the problem. This diverse views from the staff and management
make the organization aware of the positive and negative effects the problems have (Weidinger,
et al., 2014.). Effective communication encourages decision making that influences the whole
business system. The management involved in decision making is able to come up with effective
and precise ideas to solve issues the business faces. Effective communication helps in executing
as a unit through the unraveling of complex business problems. This ensures efficient use of
resources as well as avoiding conflicts in the business. Execution as a unit enables every staff
member to know what is going on and also know their roles in the business (Okoro &
Washington, 2012).
Effective communication enables the implementation of impacts that stick and can be adhered by
the business staff. The management analyzes situations, develops alternatives, formulates
decisions and establish counteractive actions to resolve the business issues. This creates
awareness of the benefits gained from the problem-solving techniques if adhered to. Effective
communication helps to manage stakeholders' expectations by boosting their confidence in the
business. Guaranteeing the involvement of stakeholders in problems solving of the business is

vital. This is achieved if the communication with them is cautious, timely, considerate and
decisive about problem-solving techniques to be deployed (Bhasin, 2015).
Strategies and Ways to Enhance Effective Communication
Strategies tend to act as frameworks that enhance the understanding of the employer’s concern
and also to visibly communicate the employees’ interest in the business (Sanina, et al., 2017).
Careful listening of the issues helps create clarity and generate a reflection for the business
members. Employers should be aware and consider the employees' emotion states by being
sympathetic on their misfortunes and congratulate them on their positive milestones. Employers
and employees should develop the use of empathy while addressing the staff in the business.
This enables them not to be biased and judgmental towards each other (Hanson, et al., 2014).
Offering words of encouragement to the staff is also a strategy that can be implemented.
Encouragement tends to make the staff feel welcome, needed, cherished and appreciated by the
management of the business. Treating the business staff equally contributes to an increase in the
levels of trust and respect in the business (Delerue & Sicotte, 2017). This encourages open and
honest feedback from the staff to the management. Attempting to resolve is a strategy that should
be employed. It is where the management acts the mediator and negotiator to help solve issues
that arise in the business. The act of attempting to resolve the issues encourages and facilitate the
staff to communicate with each other in order to come up with a solution. Hence resolving any
issues in the business leading to generation effective ways to conduct business in the
organization (George & Jones, 2014).

The pillars are purpose, audience, resources, ethics, collaboration, and security. These pillars
inspire teamwork amongst the staff in order for the business to achieve its goals. Problems tend
to arise when employees lack an adequate understanding of these pillars. The pillars help the
business to increase the safety levels, streamline efficiencies and boost its productivity (Hanson,
et al., 2014). In verbal communication, the pillars of communication help the management
become more conversant about the subject issue to appropriately address the problem to the staff.
The pillars help avoid the difference of interpretation of the information delivered to the staff.
These pillars tend to implement fairness and balance in business as issues are raised and treated
equally enabling a conducive working environment for the staff to exist. In non-verbal
communication, the pillars help the staff avoid distractions, inappropriate emotions, the
difference in perception and inappropriate or conflicting signals. These pillars help strengthen
the bond of the employees as they tend to develop a healthy co-existing relationship amongst
themselves (Kerin, 2018.).
Conclusion
It is only through effective communication and teamwork that problems can be resolved in a
business. Application of strategies and pillars of effective communication in business helps in the
running of a business and also aid in the problem-solving process. Effective communication
enables the management to be able to relay information to its staff easily and effectively.
