Importance of effective communication for a leader
With the progression of society and advancement of technology, the communication bridge
has become effective and further continues in improving communicative skills. Following it,
communication has become a major factor in every dynamics of profession. Communication
skill is efficiently embraced by leaders as it has become a major factor in order to provide a
sustainable environment in the working environment.
Effective communication is recognized by the understanding of two elemental factors that
includes verbal and non-verbal communication. Through the exchange of verbal and
nonverbal means, leaders are able to deliver a clear set of morals, values and ethics and
further continue to motivate others by inculcating communication skills. Non-verbal
communication is identified as a powerful means of message as it makes the person feel
valued. It is exercised without speaking, that is, facial expressions, eye contact, and body
language, timing and touch. Non verbal communication are considered to be the most reliable
communication, as it delivers the message with true intent. Verbal communication, on the
other hand, is the utilization of auditory language in order to exchange words while
interacting. It is associated with speaking and listening (Mikkelson, York & Arritola, 2015).
It is based on the controlled tone, volume and pitch in order to convey the message provided
with true essence. According to the ideologies of true leadership, trust is the major element;
therefore, leaders follow the way of delivering ethical and truthful message. To mark the trust
factor, a true leader must have the capability to share his vision with subordinates and the
people who are interacting. Leaders through their communication skills, develop active
listening and gestures of their body language. The implementation of such techniques
improves the importance of the leader in the surrounding (Mikkelson, York & Arritola,
2015). In addition, efficient use of tools of effective communication also excels the
