Effective communication with colleagues enhances the work efficiency and diminishes as
much misunderstandings as possible. It helps in creating a healthy relationship within the
workplace which helps in resolving issues with collaborative manner (Hargie, 2016). Less
stressful work ambience will make work more fun and thus the outcome will be productive.
There are several ways that helps an individual to communicate better with their colleagues; for
instance, the individual can listen actively to his/her colleagues, it will show that the individual is
interested in them and only after they are finished, the individual can clarify any queries. This
will make the communication effective between the individual and his/her colleagues (Linton et
al., 2016). The individual can also follow the communication protocol of speaking with
discretion in order to avoid any kind of misunderstandings. Not only would it build trust, but also
enable the individual to understand the other colleague’s viewpoints; it will be beneficial in
resolving any kind of disagreements over work. It is important for every worker, be it a leader or
a general employee, never to mix the personal feelings with the constructive criticism that they
may have to offer at certain circumstances.
Through these methods, if trust is earned and built within the colleagues, communication
protocols will be easily executed. Moreover, if the form of communication, both written and
spoken, is kept short, direct and simple, it will be easier for the other colleagues to be able to
communicate with the individual. If workers are treated properly in the workplace through
communication protocols, the colleagues would serve the organization better.
