1. Introduction
Businesses are mostly based on the essence of communication that is facilitated by the
same with the objective of enhancing the collaborative and integrative functioning of the
different departments. In this relation, Razmerita, Kirchner and Nielsen (2016) opined that
communication holds an important position in the positive organizational operations while
linking with the common goals. On the other hand, Keyton (2017) reflected that communication
enables an organization in promoting transparency of the operations and engagement of the
stakeholders. The major changes that are initiated by the organizations rely mostly on the
transmission of relevant information to the different stakeholder groups. Therefore, the research
will take steps to id4ntify the different aspects of communication and analyze the application of
the same in a restaurant of Thailand. The report will mostly deal with the personal experiences
with the objective of identifying the needs of communication and the manner in which the same
might be developed in the restaurant in Thailand.
2. Concept of communication
Allen (2016) defined communication as meagerly an interaction that is undertaken
between two or more persons with the objective of transmitting important information. The
transmission of the information enables individuals in expressing their ideas, feelings, emotions
and the like with another person or a group of individuals. On the other hand, the organizations
facilitate communication with the view of making the stakeholders aware of the different
processes and transmitting information on the culture, corporate objectives and change that is
planned by the venture. Grenadier, Malenko, and Malenko (2016) opined that the assertiveness
of the communication process enables an organization in influencing the informed decision

different changes that are initiated by the organizations are reliant on the efficient functioning of
the systems while operating in the different markets. The Shannon and Weaver communication
model underlined the different elements that are involved in a communication process (Zach,
2016). The model exhibited the stages that ensured transmission of information from the sender
to the receiver. The enhanced rate of communication through a predestined pathway enables an
organization in commencing uninterrupted operations while expanding in globalized markets.

Communication is based on the delineation of the context of information which the
sender transmits to the receiver while expecting a feedback. Solaja, Idowu and James (2016)

receiver is required with the objective of transmitting the information and getting feedbacks on

the same for improvements. On the other hand, Pang et al. (2018) stated that communication
enables an organizational management in identifying the source of conflicts and resolving the
same with the objective of strengthening the uninterrupted functioning of the business units. The
conflict resolution related operations of the venture would enable the management in developing
a positive workplace culture and collaborative approach through enhanced trust and confidence.
Therefore, the communication process not only supports the individuals in expressing their
feelings or emotions but also enables the business organizations in enhancing the operations
through active participation of the stakeholders.
3. Examples from the workplace
I have been working as a chef in a Thailand based restaurant which faced significant
issues relating to communication between the different departments. The lack of proficient
communication between the different departments affected the rate of collaborative functioning
in the restaurant. On the other hand, I faced significant issues in preparing my dishes due to
unclear communication with the customers in the hotel which accelerated the rate of quality
related issues and dissatisfaction of the customers. Bel, Smirnov and Wait (2018) stated that
proficient communication among the stakeholders create transparency in the operations that
enables an organization in improving the quality of the offerings. The lack of efficient
communication between the customers and the waiters due to cultural barriers also affected my
job of preparing dishes as per the client specifications, resulting to escalations.
The managers in the restaurant are rude and thereby we feel oppressed to hold
communication on the issues that are being faced by us while serving the clients. Qrunig and
Qrunig (2016) opined that healthy relationship between the managers and the employees are
established through sound communication. The managers in the restaurant being unapproachable
