EHR IMPLEMENTATION PLAN 1
Introduction
Electronic Health Record (EHR) is a systematic collection of the patient’s information
in real time in digital format that enables the access to pertinent information instantly and
securely to the authorized users (Campanella, et al., 2015). It contains the information
regarding the medical history, allergies, treatment plans, radiology and test results of the
patients that are being kept confidential through use of EHR. It is important to implement
EHR system into the healthcare settings as it helps in the establishing the effective workflows
and reduces the medical errors due to access of accurate information. Here, the paper will
discuss the plan for EHR system in healthcare setting through addressing several factors.
Impact on Healthcare Setting
Implementation of EHR system in the enterprise healthcare system has affected the
healthcare setting and improved the patient outcomes. Implementation of EHR system can
impact the healthcare system that should be addressed in such a way that it improves the
quality of service given to patients. EHR not only provides the information regarding the
allergies but also checks the potential problems relating to medication. Information gathered
can inform the healthcare professionals of clinical department about the life-threatening
allergies of the patients and give medications accordingly. EHRs can specifically inform
about the safety problems and operational techniques. Also, it avoids the paper-based
recording of data that has the tendency to be stolen easily (Carayon, et al., 2015). Thus, I
would address the impact of EHR on healthcare setting through the facilitation of the accurate
information and also provides various important details of the patients to the professionals
that can improve the efficiency of therapeutic decisions.
Interoperability and Interfaces between Information
System
Interoperability refers to the exchange of the pertinent information in such a way that
the existing systems can work together with the other systems. It includes the standard for the
sharing of information between the providers (Reisman, 2017). Further, interfaces are the
pathways or bridge that allows the two systems to share information and can send and receive
the data. Thus, interoperability and interfaces between the information system can be
addressed through making sure that the information is secured through adhering with Health
