The topic of elderly abuse is one of the most serious problems which the world suffers
from these days. The fact that it is a serious issue in itself have been recognized by the Health
Organization itself. It had been identifies according to the research conducted by the experts
that the best evidence of the elder abuse has been mainly found to be in the areas of Canada,
which was made available to the readers by some 2000 telephone calls itself. It is identified
by the seniors stratified by the geographic region, which is mostly considered to be 4% of the
material abuse, and about 2.5 % of chronic verbal aggression as well as 1.4% of physical
violence and 0.5% of neglect itself. This is what the essay will discuss the research about the
various types of abuses as well as the various factors and the methods to prevent such elderly
abuse itself.
The article aims to find the various kinds of abuse which have been found to be
suffered by the elders. These abuses which are suffered by the elderly people would
include the abuse of the physical, mental, psychological, sexual, self-neglect as well as
various forms of spiritual abuse, that are suffered by the elderly people in the article
itself.
Abuse had been classified into various terms which includes the physical abuse that s
inflicted on the elderly people by physical force such as hitting, punching or kicking them,
emotional abuse involves the emotion forms of the abuse inflicted on the elders themselves
like those of calling names to the elderly or insulting them in various ways (Edwards, 2014).
The sexual abuse suffered by the individual themselves which diminishes their sexual
identity, or being forced into activities like that of sexual explicit photographing.
