INTRODUCTION
Academic skills means the skills and the talents and habits that benefit academic learning of an
individual. This academic skills are the learning, research, content writing and can be
presentations. An electric car is a type of electric vehicle that operates either by one or more
electric motors instead of using the internal- combustion engine which creates energy by burning
fuel and other gases (Mutarraf, and et.,al., 2022). The electric car in comparison to combustion
vehicle are quieter, and generate lower emissions and this is the reason people all over the world
has started purchasing it, from the data collected worldwide it has been seen that 6.6 million
electric cars were sold in 2022 which was twice the vehicle that were sold in 2020. Many
countries are trying to transform their transportation system from regular vehicles to electric
vehicles by giving subside. Tesla, the leading company in UK producing electric vehicles has the
highest percentage of the market share in terms of electric vehicle companies, other companies
like Toyota, BYD, are also producers of electric cars. In this report we are going to identify the
needs of electric cars in the market and the advantages and disadvantages related to electric cars.
MAIN BODY
Describing the need of electric car and evaluating the advantages and disadvantages of electric
cars in the market:
Need of electric cars-
Electric cars are offering an opportunity to replace existing technology that works on fossils fuel
and generate lot of green house emissions that are having negative impacts on the climate
patterns and different seasons(Horn, and et.al., 2019). Not only this, the increasing rate of global
warming and the major pollution in cities are giving hints to switch on some conventional source
of energy as soon as possible. At the same time electric cars are way cheaper and efficient in
maintenance than the conventional cars. The need of electric cars are as follows-
Climate change- The climate changes and seasonal changes in the environment that are
happening worldwide can be seen easily and it is mainly because of the transportation and
logistics system that every country is using from the ages(Gillingham, K. and Stock, J.H., 2018).
The conventional transportation system emit green house gases by burning fossil fuel and other
gases that is the one of the main reason of raising global temperature. The climate change also
affects the health of the people that can lead to their death and illness. This is why electric cars

are important as the electric vehicle pollutes less air and do not emit any green house gases. The
reduced smoke in the atmosphere leads to the cleaner air.
Noise pollution- The electric cars does not have loud engines in them and the reason they do not
make noise pollution as much of conventional engines(Khan, and et.al., 2018). The conventional
cars use loud combustion engines that produces lot of loud noises and these loud noise has
become an unnecessary part of daily lives of the people. These noises are becoming annoying
and dangerous for most of the people living in the cities, they create danger to the human ear.
The electric car must move in direction of eliminating this unnecessary noise in the vehicles and
provide quite drive and a relaxed environment to both the driver and the people of the country.
Higher oil prices- The oil prices are majorly controlled by some selected group of countries that
are rich in oil and petrol resources and the trend of hiking prices by these countries is not
beneficial for energy deficient countries(Mukhtarov, Mammadov, and Ahmadov, 2019. ) not
only this the increase inflation in the market and reduced economic growth hamper countries
more negatively as they are totally dependent on them for their transportation and logistics like
when the peak occurred in 2008 with the monthly average price of dollar 168.75/barrel it
increased the cost of transportation in every country. Only shifting to electric vehicles can solve
this problem of the oil deficient countries as they won't have to be dependent on these oil
resource countries any more.
Advantages of electric vehicle
The electric vehicle such as tesla, Toyota, Nissan leaf etc. are advantageous for both people,
climate and the environment of the country when compared to a conventional cars and
transportation system(Li, Ha, and Li, 2019). Some advantages for using electric cars are given
below-
No emission- the most important advantage of an electric vehicle that it does not emit green
houses gases and pollute air like the conventional transportation which produces lot of gases by
burning fossil fuels and other gases and not only this they are able to convert only 17 to 21 % of
energy and waste rest(Holmberg and Erdemir 2019). And on another side, the Electric cars are
eco-friendly and is a clean source of energy because they easily convert 59 to 62 % of energy
and does not produce air pollution into the environment. For example tesla is producing modal S
the first zero emission modal in the market.

Convenience- the electric vehicles are more convenient as they are easy to charge from the
conventional cars and at the same time they are easy to use, as electric cars does not have to stop
on fuel stations for petrol and diesel again and again at different locations. People don't have to
search for the gas station and the petrol pumps near them for their fuel and diesel requirements.
With electric cars the people can easily charge their batteries at their home safely and easily. The
time also gets saved because of recharging batteries at their home and not wasting unnecessary
time at fuel stations.
Cost effective- Electric vehicles are cost effective and high performing at the same time as they
are technologically advanced than the conventional cars not only this their cost of maintenance
has also gone down(Ekrami, M., 2022). The reason behind this is the mass production of
batteries at a time which helps in reducing the cost of electric vehicles and moreover, the
government subsidiaries, tax rebates and the incentives are another factor that is leading their
cost to decrease in the market. Thus, this is proven that electric cars are high performance and
low maintenance vehicle. Example tesla model 3 is available in the market at dollar 48,190.
Safe to drive- compared to conventional cars electric cars are safer to use because of the
technology given in them and the lower centre of gravity which balances them easily and make
them more stable at the time of road accidents or at the time of any collision. At the time of
accidents the electric car airbags open up in the seconds and the supply of electricity in battery
stops which cause less injury to the passengers and the driver inside the car. The chances of
blasting the car is less compared to the normal cars.
Low noise pollution- The noise pollution created because by the conventional cars is because of
the loud engines inside them. These noise pollution has serious impact on the ears and the brain
of the people. The impact of noise pollution are harmful for both the driver and the people that
are listening them continuously. The electric cars have advantage over it as they don't have such
noise pollution problem because they rely on the batteries and not on the loud engines that are
making loud noises and these engines are used by traditional cars.
Disadvantages of the electric vehicle-
Although advantages are clearly seen there are some downsides as well of using electric
vehicle(Gelmanova, and et.al.,2018). Some reason of not using electric cars as follows-
Electric car travels less distance- electric car travels short distance compared to conventional
cars because they depend on the charging batteries and not on the diesel and petrol. Many

modals of electric cars are running between 60 and 120 miles per charge which is quite less than
the normal cars and there are some luxury and branded cars which are offering even less than the
normal electric car and that is costing to consumer a 300 miles per charge which is very
expensive. That is the reason the cost of maintaining such electric cars automatically gets high
when they don't support long distance in less cost.
Longer time to refuelling-or recharging any battery of electric vehicle its owner needs time
because it can take up to 6 to 8 hours which is many times of that of a refuelling a normal car.
There are some fast charging station which charge in less time compare to the regular stations
and takes only 30 minutes to charge 80 percent capacity. But this fast charging stations are not
readily available everywhere. Refuelling any normal cars takes less time than the electric car
takes to recharge which is a major disadvantage of using any electric car in today's time.
Fewer options- there are not many options available in the market today of an electric car
because people are still stick on the same conventional and the old cars. The producers are trying
to offer the same to the consumer for gaining maximum profit and the maximum share in the
market. All over the world we have only few options in electric cars such as Tesla, Toyota, BYD
etc. Market is expanding in electric cars but still this is going to take years for giving variety of
options to buyer of electric car for choosing the best for them according to their interest and the
choice(Danielis, Giansoldati, and Rotaris, 2018)
Expensive car- the initial investment of electric cars are still higher than the conventional cars in
the market because the electric vehicles are filled with the cutting edge technology, and they also
have high batteries, sophisticated car parts that make them expensive as well as there are many
parts that are not easily available in the market. This is the reason after providing the tax
subsidies and incentives also the car are not easily available in the market at lower costs than the
conventional car costs. Even the lowest brands in the market is charging around dollar 30000 to
dollar 40000.
Electricity costs- Electricity is many countries are still available at high pries to the people and
electric cars uses electricity to run(del and et.,al., 2022). Countries like japan and Singapore both
offer electricity to its people at more than the global average price of the electricity in the world.
That means automatically the maintenance of cars gets higher in the market as electricity is not
available at affordable cost at the same price in every country And this is the reason the cost of

electricity is hampering market of electric cars and is acting as a disadvantage for the people and
the country.
Minimal amount of pollution- electric vehicle are not 100% emission free as they cause some
amount of pollution indirectly but the small amount of pollution in the air is also hazardous for
the people and the environment of the country(Knobloch, and et.al., 2020). The indirect pollution
is caused due to the electricity that runs them and in many countries the electricity is made using
non-renewable resource like coal which generates lot of green house emission.
REFLECTION
Self evaluation is a necessary process in gaining greater insight of any topic. It can be done
through research based activities. It helps in boosting the confidence of students and increase
their knowledge, capabilities and abilities for the better outcomes in real life. The experience
regarding this project is that this project is truly new for me as it is totally different from the
experience of examination that we generally had. In starting of this project I was nervous
because I had never done this activity before and the challenge of researching and finding things
does not attract me the most. At the same time research also requires good skills and patience
which I thought I don't have in me. But with the help of family members and teachers while
doing this project I learned patience and improved my skills, capabilities and abilities to grow
more.
I started getting interest in it because I was able to discover new things about electric cars
their new models, features and the increasing demand of electric car in the market exited me to
research more about it. The only dissatisfying thing was the reason that we need them today
because of green house emissions and that even shocked me to some extent. The raising global
concerns and climate change issues that we are facing worldwide is becoming big problem for all
the countries today. As a student I never thought about the global issue before this project but the
problem we are facing and their danger impact on coming years is something to take in
consideration. The another thing that fascinated me to this project was about learning new
electric cars, their advanced technologies, the batteries that different car their use and its safety
precaution, features and measure.
Comparison of the conventional cars that we are using today with the electric car that is
the need of new generation leads me to decide that why electric cars are better in terms of
comfort, convince, noise pollution and the cost efficiency. The fact that they are safe to drive its

most satisfying. During this project I also learned about the team management skill(Soni, V.D.,
2020). Managing team is never an easy task but being a leader of team I was able to do that
keeping in minds the importance of team during any research based task. I also learned about
problem solving and strategic making skills, next in the raw I also understood the importance of
communication which play an important role in doing research based activities as
communicating all the team members about all the important things regarding the project and
coordinating them all together is difficult role to play but I did that and learned communications
skills(Back, Tulsky, and Arnold, 2020).
This type of research based projects also helped in improving individual skill and
development The only problem and the challenge that I had doing this project was the deadline
of the project which forced me to do this project as soon as possible and this was one reason that
I was not able to search more about electric vehicle and not able to gain much knowledge that I
could have during this research task. Depth knowledge and analysis of any topic always helps
researcher to learn new things properly and helps them in easily applying them in real life
situations but because of time concerns I was not able to apply in my projects. Rather than this
problem I did not face any big problem regarding this project.
During this research I also found the disadvantages of an electric car that were the
refuelling time it takes, the initial investment and the cost of maintenance which is higher and
some other which confused me that either conventional cars are better or the technologically
advanced electric cars. But the fact that the demands of the electric cars are increasing in the
market and consumer are getting attracted to it day by day is the proof that electric cars will be
the new big thing and will have the largest market share in terms of the car market. Company
like Tesla, Toyota already has a strong vision about electric cars and the business opportunity
that they have with them and at the same time solving real life problem of emission and the
environment is not an easy task for any company. It is truly satisfying to know that some real life
problems are being solved by car making companies. As there are things that I have already
learned in the classroom, researching about those things and gaining practical knowledge online
was much more fun and a totally new experience for me. This helped me in my professional and
personal development as I know more than before not only about electric cars but to some extent
about conventional car that uses combustion engines and generate lot of green house gas

emissions as well. Knowing and understanding what electric car is, what it does and how helpful
it is something to be excited and learned about.
As a student I am Looking forward for more such research based projects in near future
because that it will help students not only learning about the things that don't know about but
also helps them in providing an opportunity for practically applying them in real life at the same
time it increases knowledge of the students. The practical knowledge that research based projects
offers is something that it keep students motivated all the time and helps them to relate content
with personal lives. They understand the importance of research based projects they do from
time to time and studies also reveals that research helps in restoring and protecting memory that
enhances chances of solving problems that occurs from time to time. It creates a solution based
approach in the minds of the students.
CONCLUSION
From the discussion above, we can conclude that electric cars are the need of today keeping in
mind the environment concerns that we are facing at global level Electric cars are much more
environment friendly than the conventional vehicles that we are using from the years. Further
electric cars has many more other advantages as well for the driver and the people of the country.
No doubt, there are certain disadvantages related to the electric cars but those disadvantage can
easily be overcome with the help of government initiatives and some incentives. Thus, every
country shall try to shift conventional cars road transportation system to electric cars
transportation and the logistics.
