One of the important parts of academic research is scholarly sources that every researcher
is asked to refer while conducting a research. It holds special significance in the academic career.
The essay aims to discuss the importance of scholarly sources, its characteristics and policy
violence associated with it.
The essential characteristics of scholarly resources involve several factors that help in
understanding the authenticity of the sources. A scholarly journal is peer-reviewed by three or
four qualified peers. These are the articles for quality and useful purposes. They contain
bibliographies or references list. It possesses in-depth articles more than five pages. Also, the
authors of the articles are experts in their own field. The audiences of the scholarly sources are
mainly for the scholarly readers, professors, students and researchers. Scholarly resources are
written in the jargon of the field for others with the same backgrounds (Nicholas et al., 2017).
Scholarly sources hold a significant role in academic research. They are written by
experts and professionals belonging from a specific filed. They play a vital role by keeping
related people interested in that specific field updated by providing recent research, findings and
news. They provide an excellent source of knowledge to the academic or professional field. They
help in building a library of information years after years. Through the help of scholar sources,
the researchers carry out the research topics for the future and find relevant sources among the
present scholarly source.
Some of the policy violation in the academic career involves academic dishonesty,
academic misconduct, academic fraud and academic integrity which are closely inter-related.
Academic policy violation is when any of the mentioned categories is performed. Although they
are not legally a crime, they are disapproved on the grounds of moral offence (Naeem, Bhatti, &

Hassan, 2018). These kinds of actions involve cheating, plagiarism, unauthorized collaboration
and other forms of academic dishonesty. These can lead to severe consequences in the academic
career.
Policy violation in the academic career will significantly undermine the purpose of
graduate school since it will defeat the main reason an individual attend higher education or
learning. The reason an individual pursue a course is to learn however, it blocks that same
purpose. Therefore, it undermines the purpose of graduate school since the graduate students do
not learn or educate themselves through these methods.
