Title: survey of 3D metal printing
Abstract
The article has included the concept of 3D metal printing that is being developed on the
principles of SLM and DMLS. The article helps to understand the basic mechanism behind DMLS
and SLM (Youssef et al. 2015). Apart from this the article has also included the post processing of 3D
metal printing. The major benefits and limitations related to the printing concept is also described in
the article. Thus it can be stated that the article will help in understanding the concept effectively.
Introduction
The article has described the rise of 3D metal printing over the years. The purpose of 3D
metal printing is that it contains a powder bed fusion that are contained with small, complex metallic
parts and low volume (Scheithauer et al. 2015). The main advantages that is achieved includes
providing an excellent physical property to the material developed. The metal powder is being
deposited on a thin layer. After this a glue type binding substance is being ejected from the end of
printer. This ensures rolling of the metal powder in different layers. The different layer gets bind up
for developing the object.
About survey of 3D metal printing
The major benefits that are achieved with 3D printing is that it is used for manufacturing the
complex parts with the help of geometrics. Apart from this the 3D printing also has the ability to
maximize the performance by reducing the weight and total number of components in an assembly
(Murr 2016). Apart from all these the major disadvantage is the build size of the metal 3D printing
systems is limited, as precise manufacturing conditions and process control are required. However the
existing designs does not provide any suitable for metal 3D printing and may need to be altered
(Martin et al. 2017).
