2EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
Introduction
Self-analysis is the best way to understand the strengths and the weaknesses that are
present within the individuals. This helps in developing a clear and organized plan that helps in
understand ding about the steps needed to overcome the drawbacks and the strategies for
nurturing the strengths.
PART 1
I have taken two tests namely the Global Leadership Foundations' Global Emotional
Intelligence test and the EQ test of Daniel Goleman (Goleman & Boyatzis, 2017). These two
tests have helped me immensely in order to understand the strengths and weaknesses that are
present within me. I found this test to be very useful as they have helped me to compare my test
results with my friends and colleagues. I have used the Johari Window in order to understand the
good qualities that are present within me and also the hidden aspects within me that I am
unaware of (Markey et al., 2018).

Open/self-area or arena
This part of the model deals with the qualities and the trends that are known to the person
and also to the colleagues. Feedback solicitation' is a process which occurs by understanding and
listening to the feedback from another person. Getting feedback from other persons has helped
me to understand the qualities that are known to me and also to my colleagues. The quality that
is known to my colleagues and to me as well is that of self-management. I know how to deal
with changing situations and maintain an honest nature. It is also known to me and my
colleagues that I am of responsible nature and carry on my tasks properly
Blind self or blind spot
This refers to the information that is known to others but is kept hidden from the person. I
have come to know that my colleagues were aware that I am good at relationship management.
Thus I rated myself 1 whereas the score of both my colleagues was 4. This shows that I can use
self-management technique in future.
Hidden area or façade
This part talks about that information that is known to me but hidden from my colleagues
is self-awareness and social awareness. I know that I am aware of my strengths and weakness.
However my colleague's fee that I still need to work over this particular aspect.
Unknown area
This part talks about qualities that are not known to anyone. I might develop these trends
as the demand for future situations.

4EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
The Johari Window has helped me to understand the differences that lie within my
perception and the perception that my colleagues bear about me. I have realized that one of my
strengths is relationship management. However I always used to think that I am not very good
at relationship management. I used to think that I do not possess good leadership quality.
However the result of the Blind self or blind spot has proved that my colleagues feel I am good
at relationship management. I am capable of creating new ideas as per the need and the demand
of the situation. However as per my performance in my previous assignments I had this feeling
that I suffer from lack of confidence.
This often acts as a hindrance in the path of sound leadership. I thought that seeking a
collaborative approach or the majority vote from my colleagues often might turn out to negative.
This might show that I am not capable of managing any conflicts. However it is after taking this
test that I was able to overcome this misconception. As per my colleagues I am good at initiating
a visionary leadership (Cheema, Akram & Javed, 2015). I came to know that this initiative of
involving others in the decision making process is not evident in poor self-confidence but it
shows the signs of true leadership. This helps in inspiring others as they get to share their
decisions and feedbacks in the decision making process (Keerativutisest & Hanson, 2017).
I also came to know that my colleagues are not aware of the fact that I am self-aware.
This is because I often restrain from communicating with others. I am aware of my feelings of
emotion like anger or sadness. However as I often restrain in speaking with others and like to
keep the feelings t myself my colleagues often misunderstanding it. I have identified this as one
of my weakness. Thus I have to work over this aspect. I will try to communicate all my feelings
rather than keeping it to myself.

PART 3
I have realized that in order to work as a successful global citizen, I will have to develop
some qualities within myself. I will have to make people know that I possess the qualities of self-
awareness and self-management. For instance, in a Global environment, I will have to work with
employees belonging to different cultural and linguistic backgrounds. As a result of this I will
have to be aware of my emotions and feelings. Though I know that I am aware of my emotions
but I will have to communicate it to others so that there is no gap. If I realize that I am getting a
bit angry while dealing with employees belonging from different linguistic backgrounds. It is
natural to have some problems in communicating in the initial stages. As a result of this, I might
lose my calm and become short tempered. As soon as I get aware of this aspect I must
communicate it to my colleagues and take a short break.
I will be able to give a realistic evaluation and expression of my limitations. This will
also help my colleagues to support me and cooperate. Self-management t is also one of the most
important trends that are needed for becoming an ideal employee in Global set up. I will have to
make myself more flexible in nature. In other words I will have to initiate a two-way
communication process or a horizontal communication process that will help my co-workers to
approach me easily. I will also have to develop adaptability quality. As per my perception this is
one of the most important aspects needed in order to work and survive in a Global environment.
There will be many obstacles in my path. I will have to make sure that I am keeping an open
mind so that I can easily accept all the dynamic ideas. As I will have to work with many
colleagues coming from different backgrounds thus it is very important for me to be able to
adjust with the newer and the dynamic ideas and the views that are being shared by them. I will
also nurture my relationship management skill as it is identified as my strengths. As per my co-

relationship among the employees.

Conclusion
Thus it can be concluded that maintaining a proper and organized self analysis will assist
me in dealing with my weaknesses. Johari window has been very useful for working over self
analysis process. I have been able to compare my evaluation with my friend’s evaluation as well.
This has helped me to find out the hidden talents with my persona. I will nurture the positive on
es and at the same time find out measures to fight with the negative aspects. I will make sure that
I am accepting my drawbacks and putting forward all the needed efforts to deal with them. I will
try to build bonds within them so that they can put forward a joint collaborative effort. Imbibing
all these qualities within myself will help me to work as a successful employee within a Global
environment.
