1. Analysis of business sector:
Despite the issues of upheaval in the financial services sector in the United Kingdom mainly
due to regulatory changes in the period of post Brexit, the influx of the skilled workers help
to maintain the status of the nations as the leading business centre of the world. Having
finance and accounting as the background, the candidates can opt for diverse types of jobs in
the business sector of the UK. First of all he job for accountant is in abundance that expects
the persons stop be responsible to manage and report the business and managerial accounts.
These employees are expected to play the role on behalf of the business irrespective of size
and types. Secondly the banking and finance sector can be stated as the biggest employer in
the UK. It is the responsibilities of the employees working in this field to enable the
businesses as well as organizations to manage their money as well as access the products like
insurance, loans and mortgages.
The business sector of the UK has a huge prospect for the financial planning that
mandates the jobs focus on the provisions of the advisory services as well as support the
people associated with the organization looking for planning of financial features. Insurance
sector is also related with the financial sector where the employees are directly related with
the other professionals that include lawyers, fire officers and doctors, to gather the evidences
and assess the risks to resolve claiming against the insurance policies. Investments and
pensions are related to the professional final researches relating to the performance of the
funds. It is the method to look into the matter of financial risks and liabilities to the clients. In
the business sector of the United Kingdome, the demand of the individuals and organizations

economy. For improving the labour situation, the country has led to the productivity growth
that has been in rise from weak pace. Thus the consequence improves without generating the
inflationary pressure to be modest (see appendix 2). Thus the unemployment rate will fall
creating scope for the freshers to get jobs in the banks and other financial sector of the UK
(see appendix 3). The already existing candidates who are already placed in some
organizations, do not like their work therefore the employee satisfaction in the banking and
financial sector is not high. One of the most important reason for this is the lower salary of
the employees in this sector. As this is one of the main component to achieve the employee
satisfaction, the banks through gain popularity among the customers but cannot gain support
of the employees. However, the employability attracts many candidates towards the financial
and banking sector.
2. Application for a job, internship or placement:
2.1 Justification short-term career goal:
I have taken a short term goal for the employability in the financial sector of the
country which includes being employed in the Aldermore Bank as Customer Marketing
Manager. This is a short term goal for me as I want to be an entrepreneur in next fifteen
years. I want to introduce my start-up of financial advising firm in my home country. Before
that I want to know all the needed aspects of the financial business in the developed country
like the UK. I have set a short term goal to become a part of banking and financial sector of
the country so that I can develop all the needed skills of managing employees as well as
customers. I have the knowledge of working in the restaurants where different types of
people come and expect services as well as product. Now if I get the chance to enter the

financial sector on the basis of my knowledge, I will be able to develop necessary skills
needed for developing a new financial service company.
Along with the educational qualification of the candidates I have found that, I need
the skills like understanding the other co-workers, need of the customers and manage the
stakeholders is more important. Through various activities and different tests which have
revealed my personal capabilities to cope up with the challenges of the organisations.
Through my understanding and personal capabilities I have understood that this situation of
the countries will be changing in the next few years and the dependability of the business on
the financial sector will increase day by day. Therefore learning about the financial sector is
essential for the candidates. Hence I have set the short goal of getting employed in Aldermore
Bank.

3. Reflective essay
3.1 Reflection:
My experience in this module has changed my views and behaviours in relation to career
management that is understanding of job search and recruitment and selection processes,
changes in self-awareness. Initially I was not very aware about the business sector of the
United Kingdome as it was a foreign country to me. I have completed by basic education in
my home country and visited this nation for the higher studies. My one and only idea was to
complete my study and get a high standard job in the business sector of the UK. After I have
entered the course of finance and accounting in the reputed university I found that everything
was completely different. The style of studying in the UK universities is different from my
home countries. In this course I have gained the scope of studying in a practical method that
has focussed more on understanding the selection process competitive truth among the
candidates in the business sector of the UK.
The module has revealed that the changing nature of the business has mandated
changes in the recruitment process of the employees. Due to globalisation and the related
financial changes in the country, like Brexit, Trade war among US and China, the business of
the UK has shown issues with the capabilities of the organizations. The business sector in the
UK is an amalgamation of different types of business where organisations from different
parts of the world have come and utilised the human resource available. In that case, the
organizations are to be effective in recruiting the employees based on their knowledge, social
and communication abilities. Moreover, the module has also taught me that the employability
of the candidates gets enhanced if they have the capability to communicate in more than one
languages. The organostions I am aiming to enter is a bank that has huge expansion in the UK

market. It is a retail bank that focuses for the development of the individuals as well as the
organizations (Suleman 2016). The employees therefore need to face pressure froing the
clients needing cross cultural effectiveness. This is the reason why the organostions of the
UK have been focusing on the employing such employees who will have the capability to see
from different points of view with may provide the organisations competitive advantage on
the basis of the different types of ideas in the teams. This is the reason why the employers in
the UK business market has been focussing on the networking, convincing and professional
capabilities of the employees who will be hired in their organostions in these coming years.
In addition to these, the employers are also focussing on the personality traits of the
candidates before they are employed in the organostions. The trend is not to depend upon the
resumes and personal interviews but to check the personality traits of the candidates so that
the capabilities of the candidates in all inclusive manner will be understood (Ruge and
McCormack 2017). Along with the educational qualification of the candidates, I think the
skills like understood the other co-workers, need of the customers and manage the
stakeholders is more important. Through the module I have completed various activities and
gone through different tests which has revealed my personal capabilities to cope up with the
challenges of the organisations (Brooks 2017). Through these tests I have understood my
strengths and weaknesses so that I can understand what exactly I can achieve and how I can
achieve. I am capable to analyse any situation before I make any decisions in the
organisational context. I truly prefer to use my inquisitive nature to find out all the aspects of
an issues before I do anything. It is important while I am going to serve any customer based
on my understanding and knowledge. In addition to this, I prefer to find out innovative
measures to mitigate problems by thinking out of the box which has made me capable to
solve any type of critical issues (Bridgstock 2019). From the activities of the module I have
also understood that I possess the collaborative skill which has helped me to work in team

11EMPLOYABILITY
more effectively than the others. I have working experience for more than three years
therefore, I can to communicate with the management as well as the customers convincingly.
My capabilities has made me acceptable in the job market of the UK giving me more
competitive leverage.
The module has given the idea of various models and theories which are effective for
the understanding of the employability skills among the candidates in the business sector.
Here I have come across organizational culture theories, organizational behaviour theories,
leadership theories, customer management theories and theories of marketing (Collet, Hine
and Du Plessis 2015). These have helped me to understand what drives the growth of the
organizations in this business context and how the employees can effectively support the
growth of the organizations. However, along with these, I have come across the financial
theories that revolve round the external and internal aspects of the organizations and based on
which all the business organizations plan or design their organizational structures and
policies. Along with theories I have undergone the process of giving feedback to my peers
and find out what we lack from the others. Based on the feedback from the mentors and the
classmates I have found out the weaknesses in me and trying to overcome those to be
flawless.
The models, theories and practical tests of learning in this module has shaped my
career plan. By understanding what the sector actually expects from me to be as an effective
and capable candidate and how I can become perfectly fitted in the financial sector of the
UK. Based on the intense understanding what factors create barrier in the growth process I
can plan my objectives accordingly and make initiatives for this growth. Thus the theories are
effective in the growth of the self-understanding processes that can lead a person to become
an efficient person to compete.
