Career plan
My career plan is to pursue the Master degree in Genetics just as I complete the bachelor
degree in Biology. To set up a proper career plan, it is always necessary for me to identify where
I currently am and where do I want to get in the future considering the skills, knowledge and
core competencies to be possessed by me to become successful in my career in the future
(Fallows and Steven 2013).
Introduction
I am pursuing Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biology at the Liverpool John Moores
University in Liverpool, United Kingdom. I have also obtained knowledge on Engineering,
Computing and Life Sciences based on the International Foundation along with ISC at John
Moores University in Liverpool, UK. The community organizations where I have worked
include Saudi Club in Liverpool and also at the National Union of Kuwaiti Student in UK from
the year 2017 in January month and it has been ongoing since then. Working as a volunteer with
other students has also allowed me to manage multicultural events and at the same time,
facilitates my knowledge and skills while working at Wayne State University Detroit, MI (Šorgo
et al. 2014). I have been accustomed with both languages Arabic and English and have been
pursuing the Master Program for the second year of the Biology degree in the concerned
University of John Moores in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
Not only do I possess skills about the various elements of genetics, but also to my
knowledge, there are various areas in chemistry, mathematics and computing technology that I
have focused on. This has helped me to gain enough experiences in preparing graphs, tables and

develop pictorial presentations related to the experiences and outcomes that I have gained while
working in the laboratory (Tran 2016). The rational scientific thinking is another area of interest
for me, which has also allowed me to primarily focus one subject at a time, furthermore with the
skills and knowledge in mathematics; it has contributed furthermore to derive positive
experimental outcomes with much ease and effectiveness. Not only these are the major skills that
I have possessed, but also with the obtaining of computing knowledge and skills, I have been
able to analyze data and information and conduct researches on complicated research topics
associated with development of systems and even making programs function with the use of
various computer programming codes as well (de Guzman and Choi 2013). Being engaged with
the Biology degree and after one year of completion, I am currently in second year and I have
learned the essence and importance of working as a team, better communication management
and thereby facilitating the Team Based learning approach too.
Few of my hobbies or things that I like to do during free time include cooking, having a
long walk, listening to music and reading various novels by well known authors. I have been a
family persona and whenever I get time, I spend time with family by camping in mountains and
socializing with people has been another hobby as well (Tran 2015).
Career goals
I want a successful career and it can only be achieved when I will be able to use my
skills, expertise and knowledge for my own good and contribute to the positive outcomes while
working within an organization in the future as well. My main aim is to become a successful in
the field of genetics and make sure to advance in my professional career by going through
various learning procedures (Smith and Paton 2014). With the advancement of a career, it is

likely that one must focus on long term as well as medium long-term goals to become successful
in the professional career in the future while being appointed as an employee within a reputed
pharmaceutical company in the future. I do not want to immediately think about what shall be
achieved after five years of my course, rather I am focusing on completing each year properly so
that the long term career goals and objectives can be achieved with much ease and efficiency.
With the good team working skills achieved through Team Based learning approach, I have
become more motivated and encouraged to pursue a course that focuses on the agricultural
sector, especially on the animal nutrition (Civelek and Lusis 2014). The skills and knowledge
that I have obtained will allow me to manage the animals by taking care of their nutritional needs
and at the same time, cerate commercial awareness regarding proper animal nutrition
management. My career goals are to pursue a Master degree in Genetics and also get appointed
as a Graduate Trainee in Cargill Feed and Nutrition. With advancement of course and time, I am
aiming to become a successful geneticist in the future (Šorgo et al. 2014).
I have also been focused on improving my analytical and research skills so that I can
evolve or transform myself from being a regular medical student to a much improved and
knowledgeable worker at a popular and established pharmaceutical company in UK. I like
different kinds of work and as such, I have pursued Biology course and at the same time
involved myself in volunteering activities and creating scopes for acquiring knowledge about
engineering, mathematics and chemistry as well. I am enthusiastic about fulfilling my Biology
course properly so that it can be useful in my future career and even allow me to gain interest
more in genetics and deal with critical situations (Wang, Liu and Lu 2013). With my knowledge
and skills on biology, computing and engineering, I have also managed to create promotional
techniques and used the marketing materials for arranging the events carefully at the Athletics

Union. With the designing of various research materials and conducting researches, I have
finally come to a point where negotiation skills are manageable along with the promotional
campaigns contributing to the success of the campaign with increased sales of tickets and lower
costs of production associated with it (Collet, Hine and du Plessis 2015).
Specific- I want t pursue a Masters Degree in Genetics after the completion of Bachelor Degree
in Biology
Measurable-I will be able to know after achieving the objective because it will allow me to
acquire knowledge and conduct research on animal nutrition
Achievable-Yes, the objective is achievable and realistic
Relevant-Yes, the career goals are relevant to my own career goals because my focus on
studying about Genetics after becoming a Graduate focusing on Biology, which is relevant to the
management of animal nutrition (O’Leary 2013).
Time scale- I expect a minimum of 5 years to accomplish my goals. I am currently in second
year studying Biology course and it is a five year long source, thus after completing my
graduation, I will be able to apply for the Masters programme and accomplish my goals of
focusing on animal nutrition, health, furthermore work as a Commercial Graduate Trainee at
Cargill Feed and Nutrition (Feser, Vasaly and Herrera 2013).
Career development
After completion of first year post graduation, I could apply for Masters degree in
Genetics though there are few areas where I have been weak and it may hinder successful
management of career prospects for me. I expected practical work for cellular biology,

epidemiology and genetics while the practical works were done at the laboratory, which was a
major concern as I failed in some practical experiments at the lab (Hoffman et al. 2016). There
are gaps though faced during my Graduation like it was difficult to gain support from senior
research groups and thus it needed rebuilding and restructuring, which was another major issue.
The concerned biology department showed signs of aspirations and achievement of long term
goals, though there was lack of sharing of a coherent vision and mission. It was almost time that
I need to make a decision about my future to gain long-term success in both personal and
professional career (Aikens and Dolan 2014). Though I possessed good communication,
interpersonal, team working and problem solving skills, still I faced issues while making a right
decision and even lacked leadership skills and knowledge. To maximize the suitability for the
job or course, the modules that are followed me include Introduction to Evolution and Animal
Biology, Ecological Concepts and Plant Sciences, Introduction to Microbiology along with
knowledge acquisition achieved through studying cell biology, psychology, Genetics and
Biochemistry too (Dickinson et al. 2015). During the second year, I have started to know about
Molecular Biology concepts and its applications in various areas while the final year modules
will include Collective behaviors in Animals, Adaptation to changing environment and High
Level Genetics, i.e., Genetic Variation in Humans and other Eukaryotes (Loeschcke, Tomiuk and
Jain 2013).
Yes, I do have volunteering experience while working with other students and this has
assisted in setting up a multicultural office and it has been managed at Wayne State University,
Detroit, MI during the year 2014 in the month of April. I am thinking of pursuing some
knowledge and education from the teachers of Universities and study about Genetics, Animal
Biology and Genetic variations in human beings and Eukaryotes (Goulder and Scott 2016).
