Describe the importance of an employability portfolio
A portfolio is defined as compilation of word samples as well as professional documentation
which requires proof for accomplishment of the work (Moss, Gibson and Dollarhide, 2014).
portfolios are a great way for demonstrating competencies which are used in resume or talk
regarding an interview. These are used during our job search and it works as an evidence of
relevant skills and abilities. These are helpful for business owners, contractors and consultants
for providing work samples to potential clients. There is need to archive samples of work to a
portfolio that is useful for tracking accomplishments in context of job or client search. Portfolios
are useful while preparing an unexpected situation like sudden change to the job or layoffs.
There are some professions in which portfolios are used for showcasing the work. There are
several values of portfolio within career when an individual want to get best opportunity in work
for success. There is need of effective and informed conversations for developing good career.

There are various skills required for working efficiently within hospitality and tourism industry.
These will help for the person to manage several problems in empathetic manner. There are
several scenarios in which managers of tourism industry have to work under pressure. There is
requirement of investing in training so that achievement of goals and objectives as possible. As a
tourism manager, there are some skills required for managing functions and tasks. Empathy and
emotional intelligence is required for becoming depersonalised and determine the factors which
will lead to success of organization (Murdoch-Eaton, and Sandars, 2014). Teamwork is another
quality required by tourism managers so that there's improvement of performance and how
activities and tasks can be done for improving the working conditions. Stress and time
management are also required for managing the work in proper manner and analyse the need of
working efficiently. Problem solving is another skill which is required for dealing with various
issues with clients and achieving goals. Being innovative and strategic thinker are also required
for tourism manager in managing different activities of the operations within hospitality industry.

Some of these are described below
 Empathy and emotional intelligence: these are digital transformation which are carried
within hospitality and tourism industry. These skills will help in investing in human
capital for finding the best innovative solution and determining success of the
organization.
 Teamwork: this is a skill which is need of various companies and organisations working
within hospitality industry. It provides ability for integrating into existing team and
managing the best candidate for work.
 Stress and time management: this is an important skill among hospitality managers as it
provides help in managing heavy workload at a faster rate (Olsen, 2015). There is need of
preparing to multi task and remain calm while providing service and achieving customer
satisfaction and efficiency.
 Problem solving: there are several situations where hospitality managers have to face
difficulties while dealing in several issues of clients. There is need to learn how a
manager has to work under crisis and get best solution for problems.
 Strategy and innovation : tourism HR managers have to be innovative and develop
strategies in order to enhance customer satisfaction. It is seen that innovative skills and
strategic planning will help in achieving best opportunities and managing established
procedures and plans.

My name is John Paul and this writing is for getting job in your university. I have graduated
from XYZ university and here, I have managed to complete my studies in hospitality and tourism
field. I have to improve my individual skills and I must do it happily for this reason. In the other
side, by delivering successful and effective training programs, leadership learning of the mine is
possible (Prosek, and Hurt, 2014). As an HR boss, I have built personal as well as technical skills
for working. I also worked hard to reach this degree and it is important for me to make further
attempts to improve my career and profession at all times and not to turn fondly. For the
continued growth of my career, I have had to make successful choices and engage in numerous
preparation or encourage the practice workshops. There are effective skills within me and by
using these I can attain organisational goals and objectives. There is need to manage the role and
responsibility as the tourist manager in company and attain goals.

I've graduated from reputed College of hospitality management last year and started an
internship within a reputed tourism organization after completing my studies. In initial stages, I
was given 3 months training which helped me to understand how to deal with different type of
customers and clients as it is one of the most as it is one of the most important aspect of tourism
industry. I have evaluated that human resource Department. There are several practices within
my industrial placement at Paris. There are several roles and responsibilities of human resource
management which have to be understood in proper manner for conducting the business tasks of
tourism industry. There are several functions like hiring, training, Labour relations,
compensation, coordinating with employees, etc. are effectively managed by me in my training

period. In my internship, I got to know that for getting a permanent job I have to work hard and
manage all responsibilities of HR manager within tourism industry in proper manner. Moreover,
ethical coherence in HR is also present within this business. It is important to understand needs
and requirements of employees so that outcomes and results of human resource are good. I've
evaluated the reason behind human resource management to have an effective communication
with employee's. This is seen that I've good knowledge about human resource functioning within
tourism industry and hence I have various opportunities within the market to get a good job. I
think communication skill also plays an important role within tourism industry. It enhances the
way in which other functions are completed in efficient manner. This includes front office, food
and beverage, doorman, back office Department services which can be done in proper manner.
Tourism industry also deals in finance, housekeeping common man maintenance, sales, it and
marketing which are also required to be operated successfully by using communication process.
HR Department of the company has to focus upon maintaining good functioning and operating
of all these functions. I think I have good communication skills and HR skills are also developed
within me during the internship time. These skills have helped in attracting other employers to
focus upon considering me for job role and responsibilities which they are providing.
