Topic – To develop employability skills for performing functions of HR trainee
INTRODUCTION
Employability refers a quality or set of qualities which makes people able to get
employment or make them suitable for paid work. There are several job roles which require
having some skills such as communication, decision- making, flexibility, time management,
critical thinking and others (Taylor, 2016). It makes an individual or students able to get job as
per their requirement and field. For HR trainee there is requirement of having organizational
skills, training and development skills, communication skills and decision-making skills. People
do not posses all these skills as they have some areas which they need to improve. For that
improvement it is important for them to have knowledge about all those areas. With the help of
strategic analysis, they can identify their both areas in which they are good and in which they are
not effective. Communication skill is one of the main skill which this study will discuss as how it
makes people able to interact with different types of people and influence them. It also makes
them able to solve problems of conflicts by decreasing situations of misunderstanding.
This present study is going to show some ways of identifying own strengths and weaknesses
in order to remove all weaknesses and increasing skills. It will show importance of continuous
professional development as it makes people able in describing their learning activities as well as
skills which can make them able to become a successful professional. With the help of
professional development plan an individual can improve their strengths and decrease their entire
weaknesses fort making them able to perform their functions effectively. This study will also
show all those skills in detail which are required to have for HR trainee in order to support
company in gaining their goals (Philippaers, De Cuyper and Forrier, 2019). By developing skills,
people can improve their career and make them able to take advantages of all external
opportunities in the future. In this context, it can also be said that experience of an individual
plays an important role as it helps them out in performing their activities in an organization and
deal with problems which they had already face before.

Rationale
Employability skills play an important role as it makes students and people able to perform
activities and functions of their job role. By developing portfolio, all skills can be identified
which are required to perform functions related to HR in an efficient manner. Employability
skills not only make people able to gain employment for their required job role but it also makes
them able to grow their career and make growth in the future (Tsitskari and et.al., 2017). There
are several common skills which allow people to accomplish their goals and make them differ
than others. This portfolio will focus on my learning experience within the organization like
skills that have been developed during that visit, things that have been learnt by me during that
visit.

REFLECTION
On the basis of above study I can say that there are several skills which helped me out in
performing functions of HR. With the help of strategic analysis or own analysis of strengths and
development I found out both areas in which I am good and in which I am not that much
effective as I should to be. From the above continuous professional development plan I also get
to know all those skills which I need to improve for performing all functions of HR and
becoming an effective employee. Such skills which I need to improve for the future development
include: time management, Written skills, critical thinking and budgeting skills. I found that
I am lack in critical thinking and time management skill with the help of experience. I often
missed deadline of submitting projects and completing important function on time. Due to this
lack of skill, I can face many more problems in the future like it can make me depressed due to
missed deadlines and not finishing important task (Sainz, Ferrero and Ugidos, 2019).
On the other hand, I found all those skills and areas in which I am good and all those skills
can help me out in the future in career development. With the help of CPD and my experience I
got to know that I have an effective communication skill, team working skills, motivating
people skills, flexibility skills. With the help of flexibility skills, I can adapt changing situations
which occur in an organization this skill helped make out in performing my functions without
getting influenced by them I Can say that an effective communication skill will help me out in
the future in influencing people and interacting with any type of customer in an effective
manners. I also got to know importance of team working (Moore and et.al., 2018). An ability to

work in a team not only improves productivity and performance but also it increases relation
with others and make us feel valued and refreshed. An effective team working skill also can help
us out in decreasing errors and increase knowledge by sharing different ways of performing
functions and skills with each others.
After identifying both areas of strengths and weaknesses, I prepared a PDP which helped
me out in improving all those skills in which I was not good and always wanted to improve. I
also learned the importance of Professional development plan. It plays an important role because
it does not only help us in improving our strengths but also allow us to know the exact position
of us in company and different ways by which we can develop all skills as per the convenience
and suitability. With the help of PDP, I found different ways and tools by which I can develop all
those skills which I needed to improve such as time management, critical thinking or an ability to
think a situation in both positive and in a negative manner. I can now say that all these skills will
help me it in career development and performing all functions related to my job role.
