Market and business sector is changing at rapid scale. It has become essential to
analyze the changes so that better decisions are being undertaken. Employee relation is to be
defined as process of managing and maintaining of a relationship between employees. It is
crucial to focus on development of employees relations as it achieve positive results. Through
establishing a positive employee relation, business organization can easily fulfill their
objectives (Antunes, 2017). Tesco, a multinational organization is the largest supermarket
chain located in United Kingdom. It has number of products such as grocery products,
consumable items etc. It too has many competitors like Amazon, Sainsbury, ASDA and
many more. This report consists of value and importance of employee relation, fundamentals
of employment law, rights and duties of employer and employees, duties of employment
relationship, stakeholder engagement & contribution and impact of both positive & negative
subordinate relation.

2.0 An overview to employee relations, what it is and its importance and value to the
organisation providing examples from the chosen organisation
In business, it is crucial to focus on completing of work on time. It is critically
necessary to make assure that positive relations are being developed on the basis of which it
is easy to access opportunities as well as benefits. In this contemporary and competitive
market, organization conducts various types of programs as well as activities which helps in
establishment of positive relations. Tesco, is a multinational entity that operates at global
scale. For example- it is seen that with access to developing of positive relations, it is easier
to manage the employees and their work in better way. Human resource management can
play an important role in building strong employee relationships. They can conduct activities
which allow employees to work with each other as well as managers. Furthermore, by
appropriate use of subordinates skills or knowledge advantages can be achieved easily
(Haddad, 2017).
Advantages of employee relations
Employee relation is important as because it help in managing of work life balance in
easy way. This is because Tesco is able to examine about the needs and expectation of
employees.

Another benefit of employee relation is that it increases the loyalty between
organization as well as subordinate. This is beneficial for development of business
and growth.
When a positive relation is being established it is easy to maintain as well as engage
with management or staff in better way. So, with better engagement problems and
issues are easily reduced (Hakanen, 2018).
Tesco can adapt the change and new methods easily when relations are well
maintained. Thus, it is duty of manager to make assure that every supervisor or
individual in senior management behave with subordinate in well effective manner.
This is examined that appropriate type of employee relation has a high value within
workplace as it helps enterprise in accessing to subordinates behavior, change, attitude which
occur due to external or internal factors. With consideration of this concept, Tesco is able to
execute various types of program-me like designing of business focused activities, making
subordinate feel inclusive, colleague management activities etc. For example- In reference of
selected entity, they make ensure that appraisal, promotions is being given to subordinate so
that it is easy to develop a morale of employee at workplace. Managing personnel relation is
a time consuming process which is to be done in correct way. Cross-functional teams span
across organizational boundaries. CFT's allow employees from different departments to come
together, combine their skills and work towards a common goal. Building such teams can
allow people from diverse departments who have never worked together to get to know each
other. Moreover, when people with different skills work on a project together, problem-
solving becomes efficient (Khoreva, 2018).
Basically there are various types of employee relations like recruiting, employee
engagement, employer branding, on boarding, public relations, etc. It rely on firm to access
these relations in most effective way.
In this changing period of time, it has become crucial to focus on maintaining of
relation so that it is easier for Tesco to adapt and bring change at workplace in appropriate
way. If proper relations are not developed, than it can impact on working effectiveness of
both enterprise as well as personnel. It is responsibility of HR manager of Tesco to ensure
that correct type of strategies and tactics are being used which assist in positive results.
