Women’s empowerment refers to process with the help of which the women are
motivated by the promotion of their participation in the various kinds of sectors. It can be
instrumental in building the stronger economy and improving the quality of life of the people.
The empowerment of the women can help them in taking the decisions by the breaking of the
personal rules. Empowering the women can help them in becoming independent in relation to
various aspects and it can help in bringing equality within the society (Ramanujam and
Richardson 2018). The women should be allowed to take a part in the process of the decision-
making that can help in the process of their empowerment. Empowering the women plays a
crucial role in ending the hunger which can be instrumental in the creation of a better world.
The women in the rural areas can act as the driving force that can help in the mitigation of the
hunger on the earth. This essay elaborates on the empowerment of women that can pave the
path for the ending of hunger in the world.
The women play various kinds of roles in the rural areas- farmers, community leaders,
care givers, farm workers along with the entrepreneurs and they form backbone of that of
rural society. The women makes the crucial contributions to the process of the food
production, marketing along with the food processing. The women are involved in producing
and processing the food that is available that proves to be critical in ensuring the food
security of the families along with the communities (Patel et al. 2015). It has been found that
within the developing countries, the women are instrumental in making up 45 percent of that
of agricultural labour force. It ranges from 20 percent within Latin America to that of 60
percent within parts of Africa along with Asia (Von Grebmer et al. 2016). The skills along
with the energy of the rural women permeates the various parts of that of food system. They
help in fostering the diversification of the sustainable agriculture and promotes the bio-
fortification that helps in the reduction of the food loss along with the waste (Ewuim,

The empowerment of the women can help in improving the social along with the
economic status of the women. The improvement of the status of the women has a direct
effect on the food security along with the nutrition. It can have a positive bearing on the child
nutrition that can help in improving the overall condition of the society. The women in the
event of being provided with opportunity of controlling the additional household income can
spend more on the food, clothing, education along with the health (Orr 2017). Gender
equality can be said to be crucial that can help in the achievement of the food security that
can greatly help in serving the future generations (Thp.org 2019). The empowerment of the
rural women can help in improving the well-being of the children, households along with the
communities. It can contribute to the social along with the economic growth in the long term.
It has been found that within Africa, Asia along with the Latin America the expanding
of the access of the women to the productive resources can help in improving the food
security (Wfp.org 2019). The women in the event of getting the market opportunities along
with social protection can enhance the role of the women in the area of decision making. The
policy interventions can play a significant role in empowering the rural women and it can
help in closing gender gap within the agriculture along with the rural labour markets
(Cornwall 2016). The investments made in the productivity-enhancing technologies can help
in reducing the drudgery of the women and it can help them in focussing on the productive
activities.
The rapid growth of the population along with the slowdown in global economy are
the factors that have created food insecurity in the world. Latest estimate has brought out the
fact that 795 million people are undernourished in the world in between 2014-2016 (Fao.org
