Introduction:
In an organization the management has to undertake effective measures to ensure that all the
workers obey the orders those have been delivered to them. Herein, the essence of the
workplace communication and persuasive strategies assumes special significance (Richards,
2017). In my organization the workplace compliances are achieved through effective strategy
that is discussed in this report.
Discussion:
Nature of workplace communications to persuade workers towards action:
The strategy of offering instructions that is used in my organization to make workers comply
with the rules for performing an action is to provide them with instructional documents
clearly mentioning the following steps:
Introduction- It consists of the brief idea about the objectives of the work and how
they have to be achieved and the expected outcomes of the work.
List of materials required- It provides the details of the several materials those are
required for the action to be completed.
Major and minor steps to be taken- The major and the minor steps in doing the
work are mentioned clearly.
Warnings and cautions to be undertaken- The probable risk factors and how to be
cautious about them are also provided in the document.
Conclusion- The written instruction end with the concluding points and thereby
highlighting the key objectives and outcomes of the actions needed to be undertaken
for finishing the work successfully as per the instructions (University of Minnesota,
2017).
Analyze of one of the communications:
The major communication process that is used to deliver instructions to the workers such that
they comply with the working norms is the Email. In my company, the management
communicates necessary information in between departments through detailed instructions
given through emails. Email or Electronic Mail is a modern communication technology that
enables the sender and receiver of messages get involved in fast exchange of information

even though they are physically far away from each other. It uses the digital and internet
technologies for such transfer of data from the sender to the receiver and then provides the
feedback also back to the sender. This depicts a power connection as information flows in a
top-down approach.
Effectiveness of this persuasive approach and ways it can be more
persuasive:
The persuasive approach that we have seen in my organization is the system of giving clear
written instructions mentioning all the steps chronologically. This information is passed on to
the subordinates by the management, primarily through the Email services. The management
with the help of the HR sends the work compliance emails to the relevant workers directly to
their official email accounts which are exclusive to each one of them. This system has been
instrumental in ensuring that the compliance instructions are understood loud and clear by all
the workers. Email communication provides one of the fastest exchanges of information. In
future the management can undertake a more persuasive approach by observing ‘Aristotle’s
Three Pillars of Public Speaking’ such as Ethos, Pathos and Logos. Ethos consists of the
character and the credibility of the communicator. The pathos refers to the extent to which the
speaker can establish an emotional connection with the audience and finally, Logos which
refers to the need to have a logical argument with the audience (Dlugan, 2010).
Conclusion:
On a concluding note to this report it is comprehended that workplace communication is
extremely important to achieve work compliance of workers and to make them understand
instructions clearly and indulge them to act accordingly. In my organization, the persuasion
technique that is followed is the written instructions which are delivered through emails. The
communication can be made more effective is public speaking is undertaken often by the
management that utilizes three qualities such as Ethos, Pathos and Logos.
