English will continue to be the Global Language for academia and business. Discuss.DiscussionEnglish has been accepted globally as the language of choice amongst scholarly journals and business conferences. With the rising of the trend, the academia and business field are not left with the choice and all the works and business deals are published in the English language so as to attain global recognition. Therefore English is emerging out to be an opportunity and a threat. The work will be appreciated and circulated in the whole international community and if not thenthe academia and business sector will experience a sense of deprivation of the opportunity (Bakopoulos, 1997). The conversation taking place without a common platform (virtual or real) and language amongst the academicians and business partners from differing nationalities would not be possible. The future of academia and business is seen to be largely dependent on the communication and correlation among the nations and therefore there is a dire need for a language for international communication. However, selecting a single language as an international or global language results in rejection and dismissal of the national languages, which would not be acceptable for the nations (Ter-Minasova 2014: 9). English has been considered as the most important language in the increasing international community and has attained the position of the official language of the scientific, academic and business world. Many authors have suggested that the logical structure of English and lack of grammatical gender is one of the reasons for its global success. English has successfully being used in the domains like education, economics, politics, press, communication, etc. and a critical mass has been represented by the number of people using English, making its use to be unstoppable (Graddol, D., 2004).
