In the opinion of Christopher Smallwood the condition of the services provided by the “National
Health Services” are on the decline due to various factors like the shortage of the staff members,
inadequate financing, inability to meet the required staff working hours, increased in the operation
timing since the year 2007 and others. Therefore, it can be said that there is a need of private
funding or allocation of extra amount of funding in this particular sector in a bid to improve the
quality of the services provided by the NHS. Furthermore, the author is of the opinion that the NHS
could take help from the various models followed in the European nations, especially the model of
health care services followed by the nation of France.

The health care sectors forms one of the most significant part of any nation and they help the people not
only to lead a better life by providing better health care facilities but also help the people to fight against
the various diseases which have become a part of their lives. The “National Health Service” therefore plays
an important part in the society. However, in the present times it is seen that the quality of the services
provided by the NHS is declining due to various factors. One of the major reasons for the declining quality
of services provided by the NHS is the fact of inadequate fund which is being made available to the NHS.
Therefore, to counteract this particular this particular situation the NHS needs to devise various effective
strategies and also to take the help of the various forms of funding. In addition to these, the NHS can also
follow the model of the various European countries like the French and others for its revival.

reasons for the popularity of the services provided by the NHS is the fact that the healthcare
facilities provided by the NHS are very affordable and cheap (MacLeod, Harris and Mahal 2016).
Thus, it is generally seen that the majority of the people of the nation take the help of the services

provided by the NHS. However, in the present times it is generally seen that the quality of the
services provided by the NHS is declining and the main reason attributed to this particular factor is
the lack of effective funding made available to the NHS (Bloom et al. 2015). Thus, if extra amount
of funding is being made available to the NHS then it is likely to help the healthcare organisation in
a significant manner to offer better quality services to the patients.

Furthermore, this would mean that the national government of the United Kingdom would have to
withdraw its investments from the other important developmental activities and investments and allocate
that fund to the NHS (McLean et al. 2015). In addition to these, the allocation of extra amount of fund
being made available to the NHS would also mean that the national government would have to levy extra
amount of taxes on the citizens of the nation (Greener 2016). It is a commonly known fact that the citizens
of the nation are already burdened with various kinds of extra taxes and this is likely to put additional
burden on them.

addition to these, the main reasons for the popularity attained by the NHS in the recent times can
be attributed to the facts that the NHS provides quality healthcare services to the people of the
nation and that too at very affordable prices (MacLeod, Harris and Mahal 2016). However, in the
recent times it is generally seen that the quality of the services offered by the NHS has declined
significantly in the recent times. This particular fact can be explained on the basis of various
reasons and the primary reason which is being attributed to this particular phenomenon is the
inadequate funding which the NHS receives from the governmental authorities. The inadequate
funding which the NHS receives from the national government of the United Kingdom deters it
from investing in various kinds of research and development activities and this indirectly is taking a
toll on the quality of services which is being provided by the NHS at the current moment (Bloom et
al. 2015). Thus, it is generally seen that the people of the nation of the United Kingdom in order to
get better quality treatment had to turn towards the various private hospitals of the nation which
charge exorbitant amount of money from the patients for the process of providing treatment to
them. Therefore, it would be apt to say that the allocation of extra amount of capital made
available to the NHS is likely to help the NHS solve this particular which it is facing at the current
moment.

Experts, on the other hand, are of the viewpoint that the allocation of extra amount of funds to
the NHS is likely to put increased amount of economic strain on the national government of the
United Kingdom which is already at the current moment burdened with various kinds of

activities take up the major amount of the taxes paid by the citizens of the nation. Thus, to make
extra amount of funds made available to the NHS the government of the nation would have to levy
extra amount of taxes on the citizens of the nation who are already burdened with various kinds of
taxes (Barr, Bambra and Whitehead 2014). Furthermore, if the government of the nation is going
to levy extra amount of taxes on the citizens of the nation then that would mean that the national
government would have to reallocate the funds from the various developmental projects which
has been undertaken by it. This is likely to slow down the progress or the developmental rate of
the nation in a significant manner and this is one of the key reasons why these experts are of the
viewpoint that extra amount of funds should not be made available to the NHS (Greener 2016).
I am personally of the viewpoint that extra amount of funding should be made available to the
NHS since it is likely to improve the quality of the healthcare facilities provided by the NHS in a
significant manner. The improvement of the quality of the healthcare services provided by the NHS
would mean that the people of the United Kingdom will not have to seek the help of the private
hospitals which charge exorbitant amount of money from the people for the purpose of providing
effective healthcare facilities to them. In a way it can be said that this is one of the key
developmental issue which the national government should focus on at the current moment and it
is likely to lead to the development of the nation in a significant manner. This can be evidenced by
the fact that the still the majority of the population of the nation take the help of the healthcare
facilities provided by the NHS and thus the improvement of the healthcare services provided by
the NHS is likely to help the people of the nation in a significant manner.

particular fact that the question has gained a considerable amount of significance in the
recent times. The National Health Service (NHS) is the premier healthcare organisation of
the nation of United Kingdom and every year it is generally seen that millions of people
take the help of the services provided by the NHS for their healthcare needs (Greener
2016). The NHS is known primarily for two reasons, namely, the high quality of healthcare
facilities provided by it and secondly, the relatively less amount of fee charged by them for
the healthcare services which they provide to the patients from the different parts of the
nation of United Kingdom (Frith 2015). However, in the recent times it is generally seen that
the quality of the services provided by the NHS has declined in a significant manner and this
particular fact has forced the people of the nation to opt for the relatively expensive
healthcare services provided by the private healthcare organisations of the nation (Dunn,
McKenna and Murray 2016). This particular fact has formed an area of major concern not
only for the people of the nation who take the help of the healthcare facilities provided by
the NHS but at the same time for the national government of the United Kingdom as well.
One of the major reasons which have been attributed to the declining quality of the
