What went well? (approx. 50 words):
According to the work on this module, I prefer to study face-to-face method as I can clarify
my doubts easily and immediately and get proper notes of the lectures easily as well. For
additional knowledge or if I miss any class then I can catch up through online but I prefer
learning traditionally.
What areas do I still need to improve? (approx. 50 words):
In this module, I have discussed about the pros and cons of both the methods of learning
and here I need to improve in researching about the study materials and learn from what I
research and apply on my daily routine and experience it by my own.
What actions do I need to take to make sure I improve? (approx. 50 words):
The use of web source should be used to learn the similarities and differentiation but to
improve my own actions I must go according to the experiences I have learned from my

The higher education in England provides best faculty members in traditional face-to-face
or online methods. Face-to-face study and online study both have their own pros and cons
(Baleni & Gaylard, 2015). Face-to-face study gives the option of interaction face-to-face to
the lecturer and clears all his/her doubts (Matthew, 2017). While online learning may have
many issues such as poor internet connection or poor voice or video quality issue. Study
may be affected due to technical issues in online learning but it is also a good platform to
learn from distance as if someone who cannot attend class in regular basis he/she can take
online learning classes and clear all the doubts as well. In face-to-face study, the
communication is verbal and non-verbal while in online it is virtual through the medium of
videos, chats and downloads and uploads. The communication is much more clear and easy
to understand in face-to-face learning process (Fedynich & Vonne, 2013). In addition, in
the traditional form of learning the lecturer that is helpful for a student when necessary
may provide the learning materials such as modules or notes. While in online distance
learning students have to prepare her/his own notes or the other methods to learn are by
textbook or e-books or lecturer notes which they might upload (Appana, 2008). One perk
of online learning is it is virtual and hence a student can study according to himself/herself
as time is not an issue whereas, face-to-face learning method requires real time and specific
location to go and be present in the particular place to study (Thomson, 2010). One of the
major benefits of face-to-face learning is that if any student gives any feedback and needs
interaction then he/she may do it immediately through verbal or visual methods whereas in
online study the tutor may take time to answer a student and reach him/her (Gaya, 2013).
To clear a doubt of a student the virtual method is inappropriate in terms of online learning
process (Roberto & Ribeiro, 2018).
According to Arthur W. Chickering and Stephen C. Ehrmann quote, they say students must
talk about what they are learning and that should be reflective towards writing. Relatable in
daily lives and experiences rather than just sitting in a class and listening to lecturer and
listening without understanding it and just memorizing answers and spitting answers out as
it is. Online or face-to-face learning is a choice of the student according to his/her time
management. According to a report, it supports online method of learning process and at
the same time, it says that emotional interaction is important between the teacher and the
student to understand the course (Heap, 2017). The absence of an emotional interaction
makes a student difficult to understand and this happens frequently in online method of
learning especially in terms of higher education (Coughlan, 2018). Other problems is also
faced by students such as lack of teachers support, social pressure to follow the rule and
or online methods. Face-to-face study and online study both have their own pros and cons
(Baleni & Gaylard, 2015). Face-to-face study gives the option of interaction face-to-face to

Q.2. What impact might the situation you have discussed in question 1 above
have for you as a student in higher education?
As a student in higher education, I give my education most importance in my life and
hence I make my time for face-to-face classes. In face-to-face classes, there might be cons
such as going to a particular location for everyday or maybe someday I could not attend a
class due to some reasons the lecturer does not discuss the previous days topic that I could
not attend. These are some cons but it also has pros as face-to-face learning gives the
option of asking doubts immediately in a personal level and understand the course clearly
without any video or audio problems that happen with the virtual learning method (Liu,
2010). I can manage the time well and money is saved. As education is a platform of
investment and it is growing day-by-day it is necessary for the students to save money and
plan everything (Kumar, 2015). The traditional learning method is cheaper for some
courses and hence face-to-face learning saves money and makes me understand well. It
also clears my doubts easily and immediately and hence interaction in personal level is the
most important as a student because teacher is the only person who motivates a student for
its creativity and incisiveness. The impact of the above-discussed answer, knowing the fact
about the pros and cons of online and face-to-face learning method as a student of higher
education I prefer reading and learning face-to-face and gaining knowledge from the class.
If someday I may miss class then I may check from other sources or online learning
process but not for on regular basis. Learning face-to-face is much more easier and then in
classroom the teacher takes test to check about the learning status which may be oral as
well as written this does not takes place in the virtual learning method and thus, learning
face-to-face have a better impact on me rather than online distance learning.
