Introduction
I am currently working as a catering assistant in “Nortwick Park Hospital”. My
responsibility at the site is to assists on serving best possible quality food to various patients
and hospital staff. In light to present situation, wherein due to outbreak of COVID have
resulted in serious conditions of respective individuals in various affected regions. This report
or most likely self-reflection will be an inclusion of highlighting upon various challenges and
issues faced by me in performing my job tasks under various situations.
Main Body
As per my job description, I was appointed on the basis of rotation shifts that was 6
days of working in a week. I worked as an assistance to catering services delivered by
respective hospital i.e. “Nortwick Park Hospital” to its respective patience and staff of
industry. If I describe my job, then it would go like, “A catering assistant maintains kitchens,
ensuring that all aspects of health are maintained, as well as assisting in the preparation and
serving of food to customers”. In its most basic form, a catering assistant's job entails
assisting in the kitchen and maintaining hygienic conditions in food preparation areas. They
normally assist in the preparation of catering orders or serve the food after it has been
prepared (Farmaki, 2019). Catering assistants are also in charge of performing simple food
preparation activities including washing and scrubbing vegetables. They are also likely to be
in charge of organising the storage area and unpacking orders from suppliers. Comparing the
current situation of COVID, which makes this job even more difficult. With increased social
distancing guidelines given by governing body of the nation, it have resulted to increased
responsibility for my job (Crowther and Lauesen eds., 2017). Now I also have to take care of
keeping the organisation environment sanitized and ensure healthy as well as secured
conditions for various patience and staffs working in the organisation.
