The infrastructure of the schools, the collaboration between the students and theteachers is taken into consideration. The government schools in the rural areas is analyzed.The research of this report is mainly based on the use of English language in the governmentsecondary schools in Punjab. The analysis is based on different researches performed in differentstages in Punjab. The report is concluded by the learning that the teachers are the main pillars in the educationsystem of Punjab. The right training is required for the teachers, so that they can impart the rightknowledge to the students and they can accept English as a language and not only as a subject intheir curriculum. This collaboration between the students and the teachers can change the lives ofthe students and in turn it will bring a change in the society as a whole.

3COLLABORATION BETWEEN STUDENTS AND TEACHERS IN SPEAKING ANDLISTENING ENGLISH IN PUNJAB GOVERNMENT SECONDARY SCHOOLSIntroductionIndia is one of the ten rapid growing economies in the world. In spite of this fact, the rateilliterate citizens are the highest. Education is the most important pillar of a growing economy.This is the biggest challenge that India is facing since its independence. To solve this problem,the RTE or Right To Education Act was introduced in the year 2009. This act has provided theright of compulsory and free education to children between the ages of 6 to 14 years. The maingoal of the implementation of this act was to achieve a literacy rate of 100% throughout thecountry and boost the levels of awareness (Akram et al., 2015). The infrastructure of the government schools in 13 states of India was found to poor in arecent survey. The facilities that are provided in these government schools are not at par withthose mentioned in the act. The problem related to toilets and drinking water was found to be amajor issue in these schools. This problem has led to dropouts of female students from theschools. The quality of teaching in the government is not up to the mark (Vishnu, 2015). Thestudents do not the basic knowledge of reading, writing and even basic maths. The developmentof a country mainly depends on the youth, who are the future of that particular country; due tothis providing quality education to the children is the most important duty of the government.This will help in achieving the goal of changing the entire country (Bracken, Driver & Kadi-Hanifi, 2016). The government schools in Punjab are facing many problems in the recent years. Themain problem is the teacher and student ratio in these schools. This problem has to an imbalancebetween the number of students and teachers and due to this the quality of education provided tothe students has suffered.
