Examining statement: “Drawing without action or too much emotion — everyone in Beverly isvery metered and quiet.” about the charactersDrnaso's comic novel 'Beverly' is the first and one of the finest works in which six storieswas intertwined and had shed light on the complexities and anxieties associated with white mid-West America sub-urban culture. It mainly dealt with middle-class mentality and struggles. Theabove statement signifies how this author has depicted the various nuances of people insecurities, needs and expectations with regard to the surroundings in simplified order (Najarian, 2018).Additionally, it highlighted the similarities and dissimilarities through use of specific boxes withpastel like colours to enhance the overall explanation through gestures and body language. Eachstory is different but connected in some manner.Out of six stories has beautifully depicted the mix emotions of pleasure, repentance, sinwith faith. This story was based on a family which is travelling together for a road trip and theboy saw a billboard about a strip club and next of an adult toy store that clearly defined therepression emotion of adulthood and the innocence by which the boy is unable to comprehendthe real meaning behind the billboards. The drawings on these billboards has given insights onthe cultural disparities that has been very evident in the suburb lives of people who encounterthese advertising. Such boards are common commodity while passing through NorthwestIndiana. The next billboard said 'repent' which is in context to going to a church or focusing onthe religious aspects of people living over there. It's a hidden emotion that infers the uniquecontradictions between the desires and responsibilities. In the above statement, this story isdrawing attention towards the human's contrasting feelings, without any actions and depicted thedilemmas with a tinge of sympathetic characterisation.
