SUMMARY a) Role of professional engineers in sustainability. Engineers have significant role in sustainable development. They play crucial role of creating infrastructure in world. They can also be termed as problem solver as they apply their knowledge & experience for building projects serving human needs. They prepare s the techniques that reduce environmental destructions and facilitate recycling of resources for sustainability. b) Goal of Sustainable development. Sustainable development refers to meeting needs of present without sacrificing the needs of future generations. Goal of sustainable development is to ensure that human needs are satisfied in manner that future generations are also left with enough resources for meeting their needs. c) 6 principles on sustainability. These are the six sustainability principles : Conservation of ecosystem. Development of society. Conservation of biodiversity. Protecting the human resources. Conservation of the cultural heritage. Creating community that is within capacity of earth. EVALUATION The above report is was addressed to the engineering professional as they have the key responsibilities of development. They should create an environment that least affects the environment and could innovate technologies that meet the demands of society without affecting the environment(Carley and Christie, 2017) . Key idea of the article was to invent technology and methods like recyclable resources, waste management and such like techniques. The text has been written to dragthe attentionof engineering professionals of various fields to ensure that they help the society to fulfil their needs. All the development and innovation take place by engineers in the society from shortest to biggest. Therefore this will 1
encourage to develop new technology and to use the available resources in most efficient way so that future generations have enough resources for meeting their needs. The language clearly targets the engineers to take their roles and responsibilities for sustainability. There are various types of engineers like electrical, chemical, infrastructure and many more. The document contains do not have detailed information regarding the procedures to be followed by the engineers for maintaining sustainability. Information provided in the article is relevant and also to the point which makes it clear to the reader about the motive of this article. Information given is balanced in this article and provides the relevant information. The document is effective as it cover all the scope and methods of sustainability. Just pointing out the problem and requirement of changes is not enough. The layout of the article is adequate and attract the attention to specific points by its headings and subheadings like engineering professionals, education institutes and like(Weaver and et.al., 2017). The language used is also understandable to the readers as too much technical language is not included. The formal language has been used in the article and clearly states the intention of sustainability. 2
