LEADERSHIP AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Introduction
One of the important factors behind the relevance of entrepreneurship is creativity
which is the source of competitiveness. Creativity means creation of something new,
innovative or something which is novel. Increase in the trend of globalization has increased
the requirement of creative approach in the market along with high level of competitions and
opportunity. Entrepreneurial factors coincide with creative features like self-confidence,
curiosity, far vision and responsibility. The impact of creativity over the life of an
entrepreneur is far stretching and it helps in attaining financial prospects in business,
eradication of uncertainty along with the opening of the new avenues for job and further
business progress (Laužikas and Mokšeckienė 2013). One of the famous entrepreneurs who
touched the sky with creativity and innovative thinking is Bill Gates, one of the richest people
in the world. His addiction towards computer software leads to the invention of Microsoft,
the present pillar of software industry. His creative thinking skills, in the software domain
that is accessible to all, lead to the creation of history (Cooper and Vlaskovits 2013). The
following assignment aims to analyse tools that will be useful in enhancing creative thinking.

(Cooper and Vlaskovits 2013)
Tools or method used to increase creativity
1. Mind mapping
It is used via jotting down all the ideas that come into mind in the form of spider web
diagrams. It is also popularly known as brainstorming. One of the advantages of mind
mapping is it gives birth to several innovative ideas. However, one of the disadvantage is, in
the midst of several ideas, the best innovative ideas might get lost (Root-Bernstein and Root-
Bernstein 2013).
Example: Creative thinking via mind map: time management

2. Checklist
The checklist tool for mind mapping is done via asking six questions: why, where,
when, who, what and how. Drafting creative ideas via answering all the six questions help in
the generation of a plan which is devoid of any loopholes. However, asking so many
questions while drafting a creative plan at times block the actual mindset of thinking or the
thought process and thereby creating a mental blockage (Root-Bernstein and Root-Bernstein
2013).
Example:
Why: Importance of skin care
Where: At their homes
When: During their leisure time: afternoon
Who: Housewives
What: Basic make up and skin – hair care
How: Service offered by trained professionals at cross-effective price
3. Lateral thinking
Lateral thinking is problem solving done via indirect approach via employing
reasoning. One of the advantage of lateral thinking is it helps in generation of original ideas
at every step of plotting however, it has certain disadvantage like it is unfocused or
disorganised (Mellor 2008).
