Enterprise Agreements in Australia

A broad overview of the theory/content from the chapter, intro 300 words According to the Fair Work Commission, an Enterprise Agreement is an agreement made collectively between employees and employers about the terms and conditions of their employment (2019a). They can be useful in tailoring the employment relationship to better suit specific needs such as hours of work or pay, these agreements however must leave an employee better off overall than if they had been on the relevant award (Fair Work Commission 2019a). Following the identification of what enterprise agreements are, the latest thinking on the topic and implications for business can be discussed. Enterprise agreements are made through collective bargaining which entails a group status of cover. Collective bargaining which creates enterprise agreements has the highest prominence in the public-sector industries education and training with 84% and also in public administration and safety with 80% (Oliver 2016).
