Introduction
Entrepreneurship is a process that starts form an innovative idea. Entrepreneur is a
person, which is critically analyses about a problem or a task and provides a solution of that
problem in proper way. Entrepreneurship leads to innovation in the economy of a country.
Innovation and entrepreneurship are interlinked with each other. Entrepreneur uses innovation
for business proposes. There are many differences between mangers, innovators, and
entrepreneurs. Managers manage the already set instructions in a proper way. Innovators create
new things, sometimes they are based on previous works. Entrepreneur uses innovations in a
business to make money (Brooks, 2013).
In addition, Innovation is developing an innovative idea, and then make it happens. It can
be devided into three parts, which are as radical, incremental, and synthetic. Innovations can be
used for social and commercial purposes. According to many surveys, entrepreneurship is
beneficial from social and economic point of view. It makes a positive contribution in economic
growth of a country, such as major sources of new job opportunities, innovations, and
replacement for lost corporate sector jobs (Carree & Thurik, 2010).
Furthermore, Government targets the SMEs and entrepreneurship to create new jobs in
the recovery from recession. An entrepreneur is having many characteristics, such as motivation,
innovator, good manager, building teams and organization (Chand, 20118).
This report will provide details about the three entrepreneurs of Australia. It will describe
about their role, responsibilities, and characteristics that makes them different from others.
Therefore, most of the people are not a good entrepreneur.
In this report, it will discuss about the life style, family, and innovations of Katie page,
Mike Cannon-Brookes, and Ruslan Kogan. It will explain about the early life, characteristics,
and background details in terms of education, family, and experience. It will also describe about
the business environment when they launched their venture in market and type of venture. It will
also provide details about the current management style of all those entrepreneurs.

Profiles of three entrepreneurs:
Katie Page
History, Development, and Growth
In 1956, Katie page was born in Australia. In family of Katie page, she has three sister
and his father is bank manager in an Australian bank. Therefore, his family is relocated in every
four years because of transfer of his father. She is graduated in 1973 from Brisbane State High
School. Katie page has participated in a test, which is used to increase funds for children with
autism. In that event, Gerry Harvey is in panel of judge and Katie page was offered a position of
assistant for his new Harvey Norman store. In addition, she got married to Harvey in 1988
(CEW, 2016).
In addition, Katie page become CEO of Harvey Norman in 1999. After getting that
position, she expended its business in different countries, such as New Zealand, Singapore,
Slovenia, Malaysia, and Ireland. She has introduced new technologies in their business to
increase efficiency and performance of the company. Katie page has managed 277 stores in eight
countries in 2015. In that year, net profit of company was $165 million and its revenue was $4.9
billion. In addition, Katie page is a sports person and she is always energetic in his work. She got
many awards and money in the sports leagues ( Jansen, et al., 2018).
Moreover, Katie Page had a beautiful barefoot childhood. His family for their gender
never restricted her. In his studied, she was represented as strong feminist role models. She has
faced many challenges because of distinct norms in Queensland. She moved to Sydney in age of
17 because of her father’s transfer in their job. In Sydney, she got a job in Pharmaceuticals
Company. She worked with Harvey Norman, which is the public company and it deals with the
franchisor, business owners, grants franchises, and independent business operators that are retails
many home products ( Page, 2015).
Furthermore, Harvey Norman commits the service, quality, and value in its retails store
as well as online channel. It also operates in property sector, and it delivers unique products to
their customers, such as computers, furniture, bedding and electrical instruments. They used

internal franchising to gain a competitive advantage. Katie page is a good designer and she
makes many designs for their brands, such as high-end space Furniture Company, and poliform (
Koehn, Powell, & Dias, 2017).
In addition, Katie Page provides innovative ideas that will help to reduce the cost of
different products and services. She has an effective and strong relationship with their
stakeholders. It is necessary to use this relationship and get new opportunities. It is good things
that use own skills to grow the business of company. It will enable long-term advantages for the
company, such as online retails store. Katie page uses Omni-channel strategy in her business and
it will change the efficiency and performance of the business. She introduces advanced
technologies within their retail store, such as Point-of-sale (POS) system, which is best way to
handle reporting and monitoring of the business. Katie page is a role model for other
entrepreneurs to enhance their skills and work hard in their field ( Chander, 2018).
Mike Cannon Brookes & Scott Farquhar
History, Development, and Growth
In year 1979, Mike Cannon-Brookes was born in New Haven, Connecticut. Michael
Cannon-Brookes is father of Mike Cannon-Brookes. He was a good person and finance
executive who worked for U.S.-based firms in Australia. Mike has completed his schooling from
the Cranbrook school in Sydney. In year 1998, mike began studying information for bachelor of
commerce degree at the University of New South Wales (NSW). He met with Scott Farqukar in
his studies at university and both are founded Atlassian in Australia in 2002. An enterprise
provided different services to project managers and software developers. Atlassian is a company,
which grew quickly and it had sold minority stake to venture capital firm Accel partners in 2010.
It was done in $60 million. Atlassian has IPO valued more than $4 million (Brown & Ulijn,
2004).
In addition, Cannon-Brookes live in Sydney, Australia. He was married and living with
his wife in Sydney. There are few milestones of Mike Cannon-Brookes. In 200, he invites Scott
Farquhar to join him in starting a company. In 2006, he got the Named Ernst & Young's
Australian Entrepreneur of the Year. In year 2010, Atlassian gets $60 million from venture

capital firm Accel Partners. In year 2015, Atlassian raises $462 million in IPO. In year 2017,
Atlassian revenue has exceeds $600 million. In year 2017, Atlassian has challenges Elon Musk
to help solve South Australia’s power problems. Atlassian is having more than 125000 customers
and it has reported revenue of $874 million in 2018 (Bloomberg, 2019).
Moreover, Mike supports innovations and environment friendly products and service. He
told that Australia become a country, which produce highest renewable energy ( Daly, 2018).
Mike is creative person and he manages different situations in better way ( Palmer-Derrien,
2018).
Furthermore, Mike purchases most expensive house in Australian history. The house was
situated in the Sydney, Australia. IT department is having skilled person that provides solutions
to their customers with high quality service. It is necessary for making a good relationship
between company and customers. There tracking software ‘Jira’ is highly useful for the company
and confluence is used to manage team collaboration. In present time, they are having agile-
oriented and service-driven approaches to manage all the operations of the organization. It has
established new offices in five countries, which are Japan, Philippines, US, Netherlands, and
Australia. They are also opened a new office in India.
Ruslan Kogan
History, Development, and Growth
Ruslan Kogan was born in 1982 and he came to Australia in 1989 with his parents and
sister. He came in Australia with just $90 and he did not know English. He started his first
business by finding lost golf balls, refurbished them, and selling them to golfers. He earns $0.50
per golf balls at Elsternwick Golf Course. He started more than 20 businesses in the age of 10.
Ruslan Kogan is a self-made multimillionaire of Australia. In year 2006, Kogan established his
own company in Australia. He studied in Monash University for bachelor of business system. He
worked in many companies, such as Bosch, Telstra, and Accenture. Kogan started his business in
his parent’s garage and now it is an international online business (bloomberg, 2019). It is
specialization in TV’s, home appliances, and digital video. Now, they are having a value of $200
million by creator magazine. Ruslan is also started online furniture business. He adopted

technologies for increasing their business. He is first Australian, which book a ticket into space.
He won many awards for his success in business, such as My Business 2010 best young gun in
business, 2010 charter security retail innovator, and smart company 2010 hot 30 ( Power, 2018).
In addition, Kogan was assembled a personal computer to work at home in age of nine.
He purchased different components of computer and he assembles them. He is a serial
entrepreneur as well as CEO of Kogan.com. He founded Kogan.com and make company at very
good position in few time. In addition, he published many controversial views on the consumer
technology industry. He was interviewed in many television series regarding his success and
social proof in business, such as Bloomberg Television.
Moreover, Kogan has won many awards for his successes in business and his company.
These are the following awards that are won by Kogan for his mind-blowing performance in
business in Australia. He was in Top 50 Most Influential People in Tech and he was in Smart
Company Hot 30 under 30 CEOs. ‘The Australian Top 5 Young Chief Executives’ awards him.
He was in BRW Young Rich List 2009 and BRW 2009 Fast Starters list at rank 37. He was also
in BRW 2010 Fast 100 at rank 15. In year 2010, he got ‘Charter Security Retail Innovator of the
Year’. In year 2011, he was got ‘The Age Top 100 most influential people’. In year 2012, he was
selected in 'Men's Style Magazine' for Men of Influence. In year 2012, Kogan.com is selected in
Deloitte Technology Fast 50 - 4th fastest growing technology company in Australia.
Furthermore, Kogan has a brilliant person in his field and he had many skills to manage
the business operations. He challenged many business approaches of different organizations. He
was famous because of his characteristics and deep knowledge of business.
Conclusion:
It is concluded from last previous sections of this report that innovations are required to
start a business for an entrepreneur. It is necessary for an entrepreneur to have different skills to
maintain the business. They should have better skills to handle all the risks of business with the
help of innovative ideas.

This report has described about the quality of entrepreneurs to manage their business with
different skills of them. They had an idea in their mind. They implement that idea in real world
to fulfill commercial and social purpose.
This report has explained about the progress of Katie page in her personal as well as
professional life. It has also described about her role in the growth of Harvey Norman in
Australia and other countries. It is also discussed about the Mike Cannon Brooke, and Ruslan
Kogan. It explained about their personality, their background in terms of experience, education,
and family. It has provided business environment when they launched its venture and type of
venture as well as current management styles.
Finally, it is concluded that government agencies are highly focus on the
entrepreneurships and SMEs for new job creations, which is beneficial for economic growth of a
country and handle recession.
