Abstract
Entrepreneurs are drivers of small medium enterprises and new start-up businesses that might
develop into numerous platforms for industry products. They are potential and future
contributors of economic values to the country. The government of Malaysia is putting in
efforts to increase entrepreneurship amongst z-generations. Entrepreneurship orientation
would enable the growth in economy and reduction of unemployment.
The present study uses a quantitative method to assess the entrepreneurship orientation of z-
generation of Malaysian students from Two universities of Klang valley. Inference of
entrepreneurship is based on 400 responses. In order to evaluate the effect of passion,
innovative idea, self-confidence and knowledge seeking on decision to start new business
venture the response of the students were analysed. Knowledge seeking was used as
moderator between passion, innovative idea, self-confidence and decision to start a new
business. The study found that passion, innovative idea and self-confidence has a strong
influence on decision to start a new business. Moreover, knowledge seeking amongst the z-
generation of Malaysians enhances the decision to start a new business.
A qualitative study in future would enable to understand the perspective of the students
towards the decision to start a new business.
