Summary of Results -
Clark Healthy
Workplace Inventory
According to the survey I carried out, I can say that Clark Healthy Workplace is one of the unhealthy
environments. Several aspects confirmed this element of a harmful condition. I surveyed with my
coworker, and we had to come up with appropriate measures that will help in inducing change necessary.
During this process, we had to come up with four processes and stages that led to group development. The
first stage was to come up with a procedure. The method was to cater for how to present ideas and
responsibilities necessary for each group. The second process was storming, and it helped us a lot to collect
data related to the organization. Thirdly, the initiating process played a key role. The team was

knowledgeable at this level, and then we lastly employed the performing method to conclude our results.

During the study, I came across some behaviors that surprised me a lot. I was surprised at how the nurse's
union in the organization was working. I wanted to join this union in the organization, but what I
experienced was not good for me at all. At that time, I thought the workplace environment was uncivilized.
The chief officer completely behaved differently. He failed to indicate well-scheduled meetings, and at the
same, he could call for unapproved meetings. This was a peculiar thing to me, and I was not happy with the

nurse's union. The worse thing was fear of job losses if one missed the meetings.
On the other hand, I was surprised by how some nurses in the organization were unaware of these
meetings. One of the nurses said that he was not aware of the meeting, whereby the CNO was charged with
some criminal labor behaviors in the organization. Through this analogy, I was able to identify the aspect
of lack of direction in the organization.
There is one idea that I believed before I conducted the assessment procedure. The idea that came to relate
to this incidence was the issue of brainstorming. From what I observed, brainstorming ideas and
appropriate solutions to a specified condition in an organization can ultimately lead to solving the problem
of unhealthy workplace conditions. From my point of view, I believe that working as a team is one of the
crucial elements that contribute to the issue of civility in an organization. This element has been confirmed
in those organizations where the spirit of teamwork is employed all the time (TEDx. 2017). Besides, the
idea of a partnership led to a healthy workplace. This happened immediately when the CNO of the
organization was punished for his strange behavior in the workplace.

What do the results of

The results show that teamwork in an organization determines the civility of the workplace. According to
Griffin and Clark (2014), collaboration ensures there is idea generation in an organization, thus making
work easy to handle all the time. From the author, we have identified how the aspect of diversity leads to
conflicts. It also leads to unfair behaviors, as indicated in our organization. Teamwork cuts off those
malpractices behaviors since these practices can be aired to the appropriate officials, and then immediate
action was taken as soon as possible. Furthermore, cooperation is an indication of following the
organizational vision and mission, thus creating an improved level of sustenance all the time (Clark et al

From the list of the articles given, I selected one of them that had adequate information relevant to the
study. Marshall (2010) had attributed some elements and theories supporting the whole incidence I
experienced in the workplace. According to the author, the DESC model can be used by any healthcare
professional to address the idea of incivility in the workplace. The DESC model is an initial for Describing

the specific situation, Expressing your concerns, Stating alternatives and Consequences stated. The article
supported some of the practices in an organization that can be handled by the use of this model all the time.
The model is crucial, and it plays roles such as improving the idea of teamwork in an organization.
Besides, it works on improving the level of communication in the workplace (Clark, 2018). Through these
roles, workers are in the position to learn and, at the same time, reinforce those behaviors and practices that
will lead to a healthy workplace. DESC has been applied in various companies and also in educational
institutions to solve different difficulties.
The theory has clear principles that, in one way or another, relate to the workplace assessment process. The
issue is that this model has those appropriate policies that can help to fight those uncivil practices that have
been occurring in organizations. Therefore, from the theory, it is clear that disrespectful behavior can be
handled by carrying out a conversation with any individual who has been identified with the uncivil
practices (Clark, 2015). There is a need to observe respectful dialogue as well as effective communication
with these impolite colleagues. Therefore, the use of DESC will help organizations end those practices
termed as uncivil in any department or section.
On the other hand, the article postulates on the issue related to conflict resolution and the importance of

effective communication. All these elements concur with the workplace principles that govern a healthy
condition (Chapter 10). The model has provided effective care and communication policies necessary there
is an unhealthy workplace. The CNO use to hold unscheduled meetings as well as unapproved meetings.
This was incivility, and the worse thing was that the CNO could threaten nurses to fire them and, at the
same time, cut off their salaries. This was morally wrong, and the CNO was found guilty. Moreover,
nurses were advised to halt from attending those unclear meeting. Additionally, some nurses also stopped
from joining these unions, and the CNO practices were condemned as a type of bullying that should never
be entertained in that organization.

I think the organization can apply the theory to advocate for teamwork and effective communication in all
departments. All these elements will ultimately raise the care and safety necessary in any workplace unit.
The organization has to nurture apt civic culture, and this will help all workers to uphold high levels of
integrity all the time.
The issue is that the organization should be on frontline addressing uncivil practices by using the principles
of DESC (Hyme et al 2011). The CNO could arrange meetings, yet the other professionals were not
communicated on this. Through this action, the organization must realize the role of conversation for it to
achieve a healthy workplace. There should be a formal relationship in this type of organization, and that is
why the corporate unit has to eliminate these unformal practices revealed by CNO.
Thus, for any healthy workplace, the organization has to consider teamwork, shred mission and vision and
also nurture civic culture (Chapter 9). Through this, it will be easy to have high sustenance chances, thus
protecting care and safety for other vital entities.

General
Notes/Comments A healthy workplace is key to any organization (Chapter 5). From the whole study, one can argue that a
healthy workplace provides direction. Concerning the field of healthcare, a healthy workplace creates unity
and togetherness when working, thus improving the safety of the patients all the time. The use of the
DESC model is paramount for any organization that wants to work effectively. The point is that the model
will help individuals to acquire vital knowledge necessary to handle challenges. Also, proper
communication in an organization is the key since it helps in the use of appropriate messages that will
create a sign of togetherness and a healthy workplace all the time.
