Introduction
There are many activities that constitute construction work, for instance; site preparation,
demolition, repair works, maintenance operations, movement of vehicles among other activities.
These activities have a high chance of creating environmental pollution which has an effect on
the local watercourses as well as the environment at large and thus needs to be controlled
effectively. Thus, all these need to be taken into consideration before engaging in any
construction activity.
Purpose of the environmental management plan
The main aim of this environmental management plan is to:
I. Define the legal structures for the project in relation to the environmental matters during
the construction phase
II. Highlight the environmental objectives vis-à-vis the construction phase
III. Highlight the environmental management systems for the contractors
IV. Provide an overview of employee expectations during the construction project
V. Provide an overview of the various environmental impacts related to the project.

Some of the abbreviations which have been used in this management plan include

Scope
In this environmental management plan, the instructions therein are applicable for the
initial construction work, for instance; the site preparations, early works, and cable re-routing
project. The aspects which are covered majorly related to this activity. In addition to this plan,
the detailed contractor’s environment management plans shall accompany this document. This
document is a subsidiary to the health, safety and environment requirements in construction.
