Environmental Pollution and Organisations

This study analyses the impact of environmental pollution on the ecosystem and the role of governmental and non-governmental organisations in reducing water and air pollution. It discusses the challenges faced by the government in protecting the environment and the need for collaborative measures to prevent pollution. The study also highlights the importance of incorporating environmental issues in social responsibility practices of organisations.

In the current scenario, it has become one of the important challenges for the
government that they are not able to protect the environmental protection (Greenstone and
Hanna 2014). Various government policies and campaigns regarding the environmental
protection are facing the different types of challenges in the international business industry.
Due to a large amount of environmental pollution and failure of government initiatives the
balance of the ecosystem is getting affected (Greenstone et al. 2017). Therefore this can be
said that the climatic changes and greenhouse gas have increased in the air, which is affecting
the ecosystem in a negative manner. In this study, it has been analysed that due to lack of
proper initiatives and awareness among people, mostly in the congested region, people are
not conscious of its drastic effects. In this study, it has also been analysed that the
environmental pollution is also influencing the biodiversity. Due to the chemical emissions,
mostly in the suburban and urban areas, a large number of species have started disappearing
(Singh, Singh and Garg 2015). It has also affected negatively in the animal plant and human
life. Not only the Air pollution but also the water pollution has brought various changes in the
water ecosystem. Due to this reason in the near future, drinking water crisis will increase in
the environment.
In discussing the role of non-governmental and governmental organization in
reducing the water pollution, this can be said that due to the increasing rate of environmental
pollution and population in developing countries (Lewis and Edwards 2016). In the long run
people will be dealing with the water crisis. It has been identified in this study that in the
current situation water pollution has become one of the major concern. Due to the unsafe
drinking water in every year near about 3.2 million of children are suffering from different
disease. Poor sanitation is the major cause behind water pollution in the developing countries.
It has been also analysed that due to poor economic condition and education, people are

dealing with such kind of situations (Arceo, Hanna and Oliva 2016). The governmental and
non-governmental organisations have taken various initiatives in the case of providing the
access of adequate water facilities to the people. The water bodies are getting polluted due to
the improper waste management policies in these countries. The water bodies are being
polluted by the garbage and waste products of human. If the water pollution in India is being
measured, it will be identified that that the river Ganges receives near about 1.3 billion litters
of wastage in every year. Near about 260 million litres of wastage comes from the industrial
areas (Austin and McCarthy 2016). On the other hand, excessive uses of fertilizers have also
influenced the level of water pollution. It has been identified in this study that near about 6
million of fertilizers have been found in the river. Therefore, in the current situation it has
become very important for taking the steps towards solving this issue. This can be said that
the government has taken the online monitoring system in the dumping ground. The Delhi
government has taken the initiative for managing the situation by categorizing the hazardous
or heavy and large industries, which are responsible for large amount of water wastage (Seers
2017). The Red, Green, White and Orange categorise have been also introduced by the Delhi
government. Here the industries have been located in different categories depending on their
wastages. In the year 1981, the State Pollution Control board has classified these industries in
different areas and introduced the water pollution regarding policies.
It has been identified that the organizations need to focus on developing the
collaborative measures for preventing the air pollution and water pollution (Keesstra et al.
2016). This can be said that the organization needs to focus on incorporating the issues in
developing the social responsibility practices. Through this process, the company will be able
to grab the attention of a large number of stakeholders. On the other hand, it is very important
for the organizations to follow the environmental rules and regulations introduced by the
government. After the introduction of globalization the business industry is developing in the

fastest way (Kanemoto et al. 2014). Therefore, in this situation, it will be easier for the
organizations to develop advanced technology in order to reduce the harmful emissions. By
implementing modern technology different air pollution controlling tools can be introduced.
Although the governmental and non-governmental organizations have taken various
initiatives in order to increase the awareness among people, due to improper implementation
of strategies all the strategies have faced the disappointment. Due to the increasing rate of
industrialization the business industry is dealing with the various issues in the developing
countries. In this study, it has been mentioned that for increasing the awareness about
environmental pollution, different CSR activities can be introduced in the business industry.
The government in the developed and developing countries have taken various
initiatives I order to deal with the issue regarding environmental pollution. However, due to
improper implementation of planning, they have faced the disappointment. With the
increasing growth in the automobile industry, the rate of carbon emission has increased. On
the other hand, the rate of population is quite higher in the developing countries compared to
the developed countries. Due to this reason, the rate of traffic congestion has influenced the
greenhouse gas emission in the air. Therefore, this can be said that in order to deal with the
situation the government needs to be more active in the case of bringing new environmental
policies which will be helping to the organizations to reduce the carbon emission. It has been
identified I this study that the emission scandal of Volkswagen has brought the major
challenges in the global automobile industry in 2015. In order to deal with the situation, the
company has decided to bring the innovative technology in the in its products so that the rate
of carbon emission can be reduced. On the other hand, Toyota has also introduced the
electronic car with the Zero carbon emission features. In the year 2015, Volkswagen has
introduced the Turbocharged direct injection diesel engine for controlling the environmental
pollution (Schweitzer et al. 2017).

It has also been identified that for dealing with the challenges regarding the
environmental pollution, the government in developing countries has introduced various
awareness programs. With the increasing rate of awareness, people have started preferring the
vehicles which are less harmful to the environment. Nissan has introduced the modern
technology for reducing the rate of volatile organic compounds in the environment. This
VOCs emits near about 90% of carbon in the air that influences the air pollution in the
highest manner. Therefore, the government has introduced various air pollution controlling
tools in the automobile industry. This can be said that with the governmental policies the
awareness among people will increase. On the other hand, by using the air pollution
measuring tools the organizations will get the chance to manage its cost and reduce the
carbon emission in the air.
In this study, it has been identified that in the current situation the rate of water and air
pollution has increased. As its result, with the increasing rate of environmental pollution, it is
affecting the human life. It has also been identified in this study that the government and non-
government organizations have taken various initiatives in the case of increasing the
awareness among people. In this study, it has been identified that by introducing different
policies the government will be able to bring the changes in human behaviour. As the study
has clearly mentioned that a large amount of environmental pollution occurs due to the
human activities.
