INTRODUCTION Equality is defined as the state in which everyone are being treated equally and where rights and social status are also being given equally. It is necessary because it helps to give equal opportunities to explore themselves which leads people towards achieving the success in their life. In this respective project, the topics which are needed to be covered is related with the development of organisation policies. Proper description will be given that how equality, diversity and fair treatment can b beneficial for the public service. Impact will also be discussed in it. The chosen public service organisation in this project is British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). It is one of the public owned organisation where its headquarter is in London. MAIN BODY P5. Describe the development of organisational policy, with reference to legislation and the role of trade unions. In any of the organisation, it is necessary that business need to develop the different types of organisational policies which helps them to work freely so that goals of an organisation can be accomplished easily. The most important thing which is needed to be considered is that non of the policies should be against the law. While developing the organisational policies it is necessary that uniformity should be there because it is the key and most important factor which helps to accomplish the goals of an organisation. It is the responsibility of every employer that they should give equal opportunity to every employee's. Here, it is necessary that employer should take the help of Labour law where each and every terms are defined clearly and that even helps to accomplish the target (Klarsfeld and Tatli, 2012). Labour law will not allow to form any of those plans and policies which are against the law due to which it because for the employer of public sector organisation to take the best possible decision that are effective too. Role oftrade union has the great importance for any of the corporate sector because it helps to protect the rights of employee's who are working within the company. They are not only the one who protect the rights of employee's but they are also needed to check that are those laws and regulation which can create unnecessary problem for them so it can be understood that trade union have the power to change the plans and policies of legislation (Claiming rights: Role of trade unions in the UK, 2018). As trade union have number of roles and responsibilities on their hand it is important for any of the employer that they must try to think that what are the basis 1
needs and wants of employee's which is needed to be considered so that targets can be achieved in the best suitable manner and all those plans should be included in the organisational policies. The most important thing which is important to understand is that person who have the responsibility to develop the plans and policies so have the knowledge of legislation and trade union law because that has the huge impact on day to day activities of on organisation. Single mistakes can create huge problem for the company and because of that every things should be planned in a systematic manner. In addition, it is necessary that authorised department should try to look that fair treatment can be provided to each and every employee's. Chances should be given equally. In short, this are some of the important things which is needed to be considered by each and every employer while incorporating any of the business organisation. P6. Whenever in any of the organisation, people are not being treated equally then chances of occurring unnecessary problem will be high. In organisation like BritishBroadcasting Corporation, it is necessary for them to find the best possible way that how they canmake those law and regulation which can be beneficial in taking any of the business decision (Olsen and Martins, 2012). Whenever code of practise and ethics are being followed within the organisation then it becomes very easy for employee's of the organisation because the will have the faith on company that the will also get the opportunity to work at higher level as chances are being given equally. If British Broadcasting Corporation will work according to ethics then there will be great chance to manage work load easily. Job will also be defined as per the skills and capability that will give additional opportunity to worker to perform given task in specified manner. There will be huge chances that worker will get promotions and rewards as there will not be any kind of discrimination within the company which will help them to motive in best suitable manner. The organisational policies which are being formed within public service agency are always beneficial but it is necessary to understand how those polices can be implemented in the best possible manner. This policies will have a huge impact on the performance of a company as right and suitable policies gives flexibility employee's they will have the chances that whenever they will perform better their work will be appreciated. Even organisation will give them them fair opportunity due to which becomes easy to work freely in best possible manner. The working 3
condition of the organisation becomes much suitable to work through which chances of achieving the goals of organisation enhances automatically. Organisation policies will help the employee's to create the idea that how they are required to work. Even they will know that what are the rules and regulation that is needed to be followed by employee's while working within the company. In addition, the most important thing which is needed to be consider is that worker will not be discriminated due to which they will have the motivation to work as their efforts will be counted and given valued(Van Breukelen and et. al., 2012). M4. Justify the need for and role of equality, diversity and fair treatment in the workplace. In any of the business organisation, the role of equality, diversity and fair treatment is very important because it tells gives the opportunity to everyone to perform their task. It makes clear that the employee's who will perform better will have high opportunity to get rewards and appraisal. There are many of the organisation where male and female are discriminated but equality, diversity and fair treatment doesn't allowed to do that. It has the crucial role as if person is disable but still he/she has the talent to do something better through which goals can be achieved then this helps to appoint those person as well within the company. The workplace culture is most important because it can easily solve out any of those problem which are typical in nature and that is possible only when work place is suitable to perform any of the business activity. Legislation, policies and working practices has the great importance for any of the public service because it will not allow any of the organisation to develop organisation policies which are unethical. It makes sure that people are getting the fair amount of remuneration within the workplace and even all of the psychological and self-esteem needs will be possible to fulfil (Jones and et. al., 2013). Although, it has number of positive impact for company but still it needs a lengthy process to accomplish the targets of an organisation. Even it doesn't allow the company to take its decision of own that might create unnecessary problem for any of the person.
