I. Introduction:
The purpose of the paper is to construct an extended definition essay dedicated to a
type of person. The type of person will determine the theme of this essay. The type of person
selected for this paper is an extrovert. An extrovert is a type of person, which can be
distinguished through distinctive personality traits. This type or category of a person was
identified by Carl Jung. This type of person starts reflecting personality traits with growing
age. This type of person differs from an introvert.
Divided Thesis Statement: An extrovert is considered a people person due to the
characteristics involving gregariousness, energetic and assertiveness.
II. Gregariousness
a. Support: Extroverts are considered to possess the ability to talk to people or groups
with ease due to the quality of holding on their confidence The nature or characteristic of
gregariousness results in healing someone's loneliness and make people feel cared for.
Gregariousness is the quality that involves the nature of being warm and genial1. The quality
of gregariousness helps in the contribution of the social environment by the reflection of
positivity, compassion, and interest.
b. Support: They are considered people person as they positively contribute to the
atmosphere by integrating positivity, compassion and interest. The quality of gregariousness
allows them to demonstrate the act of kindness by being social with people. Gregariousness
can be considered as the personality trait, which is stimulated by the drive or desire to
become a part of a group performance or activity2. The characterization of gregariousness is
influenced through the psychological approach of inferring sociability through perceptual

cues and the response in relation to the perceptual cues with the activation of emotion. This
approach connects the qualities of being a people person.
c. Support: The nature or characteristics of gregariousness allows the extroverts to enjoy the
social gatherings and the opportunity of group participation for the urge and drive of
interacting with the people3. Gregariousness in an individual reflects the approach of
sociability by being outgoing and loving around people or within a group. The desire, drive,
and fondness of being around people and involvement in initiating or maintaining an active
conversation reflect the rationale behind considering extroverts as a people person.
III. Energetic:
a. Support: According to the psychologists, Jung, extroverts are considered energized within
crowds as well as carries an interaction with the whole external world. The source of energy
is also the medium that demonstrates the practice of energy. The nature of extroverts pushes
their urge towards a crowd or group and indicates lack or draining natural energy, if they are
away from the social setting4. Thus, extroverts can be considered as a people person.
b. Support: Extroverts can also be called people person in the purview of the energetic by
witnessing their quality of making friends very easily. Extroverts sources their energy from
the crowd and also integrate energy in their social setting or environment and groups by
enjoying the interaction. Extroverts use their energy to pursue newer activities and interests
