The topic about the regionalism, regional disparities and regional policy in Canada is the blend
of many things and have immense knowledge about the Canadians and different aspects of the
social ,economic and cultural conformation. I am going to start my essay with introduction.
Reason behind choosing this topic is that this topic will give me huge knowledge about the
historic impotance of this policy with different social economic, conservative and liberal ideas
and policy approaches as well as I will get the knowledge about some federal policy such as
equalization policy.
Firstly with my paper I will going to explain how the regionalism become a prominent feature
among Canadians and affected all the areas especially the poltical era.For example the
senate ,electoral system and the legislative institution.
Regionalism
According to Joseph Nye regionalism as "the formation of interstate associations or groupings
on the basis of regions". Canada is divided into six regions British Columbia, Western Canada,
Territorial North, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada. From them Ontario, alberta, and British
Columbia are the richest province as I read in class lecture.
Regional Disparities
First I am going to observe regional disparities in Canada with some examples by choosing five
different variables for my research paper. The first, population growth, can certainly be
considered a substitution of the regions’s dynamism. Secondly, per capita income is frequently
included in disparities studies. The third one is participation and fourth is employment rates
which tell us about local labour market conditions.

The regional economies compete directly with each other causing people, industries, and
provincial government to develop economic policies beneficial to them. (johnson, 1957, p. 17)
In the end of my research paper I will describe the impotance of knowledge-based economy for
providing the sound public policy ledearship. I would also include information about the
demographics , poltical representation and regional development.
The fundamental consevative aim is to ensure that the public sector plays only a minor role in the
economy. This policy directs government to respect the interest of private capital. (Johnson,
1957, p. 74)
