ESSAY WRITING TECHNIQUES
1. Different techniques of writing essay introduction can be followed to initiate an essay.
One of them is telling a story. It has been found that readers like reading more about
people more than certain ideas and issues. The audiences would be able to connect with
the topic if it is shown to them about how it had affected people in the story (Harris). The
interest that would be grown in the audience would compel them to continue reading it.
Another would be using a surprising fact or statistic. If the writer of the essay goes
through surprising piece of information while writing or performing research, there
remains a high chance that the information would surprise and interest the audience as
well. For example, if it is stated that 50% of women in USA suffer from heart disorders,
the audience would feel interested in knowing about the care of cardiovascular disorders.
Another way is to providing background information. Often incorporating a brief
history of the essay topic can help the audience by providing background information
about the various discussions that would be done in the essay. It helps the audience gain
an idea about what they could expect in the rest of the essay.
I would use the technique of providing background information in the first essay. This
would help my readers to develop a brief idea about the concept I would be talking on
and how it had acted or had been present in the past.
2. The conclusion should have three important aspects.
The conclusion should be restating the thesis. The reader should be reminded that
the writer had proven the thesis over the course of time, revised the statement so
that it reflects the relationship developed with the reader in the essay and the
thesis should not be reaped ted word for word (Noorozi et al.).
