Ethically it was wrong for theNSA to collect and mine the private data of the US citizen without their permission.After the leak made by Snowden, the program was canceled which resulted inprotecting the privacy of millions. This report evaluated the case from a perspective ofICT professional based on the code of ethics issued by ACS. Snowden had complied withthe codes issued by ACS while taking his actions which justify that his actions wereethical. Following recommendations are given in the report:Amendment in the Whistle-blower Act for protecting Snowden under itsprovisions.Removing of felony charges of Snowden and bring him back to the US for judginghis actions on an ethical level.Dealing with the Russian government for brings Snowden back to the country.

Along with security and privacy concerns, people arealso facing issues relating to ethical nature of technology. The information ethics play asignificant role in tackling the issues relating to technology and use of data. Effectiveimplementation of information ethics principles ensures that a positive relationship hasmaintained between data and moral principles. It is referred to a branch of ethics whichmaintains the relationship between ethical policies and maintenance, use, collection andprocess of data (Liu and Yang, 2012). While performing their duties, ICT professionalsare expected to comply with policies to information ethics for promoting the interest ofthe company along with the public. The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has issued anumber of codes of ethics which are required to comply by ICT professionals whiledischarging their duties. These codes assist the professionals in doing the right thingwhen they face an ethical dilemma. In this report, the case study of Edward Snowdenwill be analyzed by using DET or ‘Doing Ethics Technique’. This technique did not focuson finding the best solution in an ethical dilemma; instead, it helps in understanding theethical issue by thinking critically. The perspective of Snowden will be evaluated in thereport. The codes of ethics provided by ACS will also be examined in the report toanalyse the case study of Edward Snowden.
