Portfolio 3: Ethics2 Ethics in Education and Professions The use of external sources to perform one’s responsibilities is not right. I believe that the systems of studying is meant to develop students appropriately and as necessary. It is thus not right for one to acquire external services in order to complete his or her coursework. This aspects affects the ethical and moral part of humans. One performs according to what he or she regards as right and wrong (Floridi,2009;Philip,2012). I would tell the lecturer about my cheating friends. This is because despite them been my friends they are students who will leave school for the outside world. They will work for the public of this nation and of all the world. If I allow them to cheat in the exams and they are credited marks they don’t deserve, they will live to produce poor quality work for the public. Another reason is my conscience, my conscience will keep reminding me of my wrongs. I will not be at peace with myself and hence not in peace with my colleagues and the public at large. I prefer to tell the lecturer because he is closest to the students and will take actions better and faster than other staff. The Primacy of the Public Interest. The interest of the public at large is primary and should be considered first (Gastman, 2011). I would however keep the public first. This ensures that the public will receive the best services from graduates. Another element is honesty. As a professional I am obliged to tell the truth to the authorities. Am needed to start telling the truth as early as when am a student. I am supposed to enhance the quality of life of both the clients and my friends and I won’t be doing them any good by letting them cheat in the exams. I am also supposed to ensure professionalism in the ICT sector by ensuring that the sector releases as qualified graduates as possible. I will neither be showing nor ensuring
Portfolio 3: Ethics3 professionalism by letting my friends cheat but will be doing so by practicing it and ensuring that my friends too practice it. For me to undergo Professional Development I have to practice the professionalism. This will help me grow professionally and become a better professional. This not only will better the society but also my professional life (Ilyassova et al, 2018; Herman, 2010).
