Importance of Communication and Report Writing Competency for Health Promotion Practitioners

This article discusses the significance of communication and report writing competency for health promotion practitioners. It emphasizes the role of effective communication in reaching a larger audience and the importance of writing skills in problem-solving and decision-making. The article also highlights the need for health promotion practitioners to write professionally for various purposes, such as funding applications and media releases.

Evaluation
Health promotion practitioners are the health professionals who maintain and improve
the health of population and reduce inequalities and other determinants of healthcare. They
are required to acquire the core competencies that generally constitute a common baseline for
all the roles of health promotion (Morris & Jenkins, 2018). Among the set of competencies,
communication and report writing competency according to my opinion is the most important
in this profession. If the health promotion practitioner is able to communicate properly then a
larger audience will be benefited otherwise there will be gap in care and people will not be
aware of the new health promotion plans and programs properly. Also, if the health
promotion practitioner is not having the competency to write appropriately, then it will cause
issues while solving any problem or making any decision (Javanparast et al., 2018).
Analysis
On analysis, I think Health promotion practitioners play a significant role to improve
the healthcare outcome of a large number of audiences. Therefore, they should have skills
and level of competencies to work appropriately. An entry level health promotion practitioner
should be able to clearly communicate with the target audience and be capable of writing
reports, plans in this regard and even literatures indicate that knowledge of using current
technology to communicate effectively is also important (de Araújo et al., 2016). According
to literatures, communication is most important educational programs in healthcare. The
health promotion practitioners conduct programs for the health promotion of public which
will enhance their health literacy and provide a better health outcome (Ruben, 2016). Also
researchers mentioned that educational competencies in healthcare important where it is
essential to have communication and writing efficiency (Jogerst et al., 2015).
Action Plan
Health promotion practitioners need to write professionally to the audience including
newspapers and media releases. Sometimes, it becomes important to write applications for
funding and hence a strong interpersonal skill is essential. I feel this learning also provided
me opportunity to gain more knowledge about the importance of competencies for the health
promotion professionals. The knowledge I gained from this learning will help me in future. I
learned the effectiveness of competencies regarding communication and writing report is
extremely essential for a health promotion professional (Hansson et al., 2018). In my working

practice, I will implement strategies which will help me to be more confident while working
as a professional. In this regard, I will also take suggestions from my fellow colleagues when
there will be necessary.
