EVALUATION PLAN
Introduction
Evaluation of a health promotion plan is focused on the measurement of the effectiveness
or the outcome of the health promotion plan. Thus, it can be stated that the improvement of the
health after the implementation of the health promotion program is the primary focus of the
evaluation plan. The aspect of the evaluation will help in the identification of the flaws and the
positivity of the program. Thus, it can be stated that the evaluation plan should be incorporated in
the health promotion program for proper effective factorization of the program. In this context,
the following section will be focused on the evaluation of a health promotion program for the
coastal town of Wave Bay.
Discussion
It has been seen that the Wave Bay population is segmented in different age group and
the people over 65 years are affected with the type 2 diabetes mostly. A total of 15 per cent
people above 65 years are affected with diabetes type 2 (Lo.unisa.edu.au, 2020). Moreover, it has
been seen that the 30 per cent of adult population and 20 per cent of youth population are
affected with the obesity or overweight issue which can be marked as the co-morbidity of the
diabetes type 2 (Lo.unisa.edu.au, 2020). This condition would be considered for the
improvement and thus, the health promotion program has been planned by the Regional Council
of Wave Bay. The health promotion program was 'Waving to the Future: Our People, Our
Health, Our Priority' (Lo.unisa.edu.au, 2020). This is a 12 month long program which focuses
on the group based physical activity, daily walking sessions of groups and educational session.
These sessions also focused on the development of knowledge about the cardio-metabolic risks,
healthy behaviours, healthy cooking and nutrition. These sessions as done with an innovative
process that is the healthy food shopping tours with the participants. The program has been seen

to be informed to the community by the health promotion information posters in different
shopping centres and sports clubs. The marketing of the program has also been done with the
television advertisements and radio station advertisements (Lo.unisa.edu.au, 2020). All these
aspects has been planned and implemented by the Regional Council with the help of the federal
government funding. Thus, it can be stated that the plan implementation has been directed with
the proper implementation and all the considerable factors. Hence, the evaluation of the program
planning has been identified that the process of the health promotion was effective for the
education and the health behaviour changing (Schläppy et al. 2017). However, all the aspects
and the consideration of the plan showed that it was costly. Based on this aspect the evaluation
can identify a negative aspect of the program. Thus, it can be stated that the health promotion
was focused on the improvement in the obesity and the diabetic condition of the population and
all the possible factors has been addressed. However, the cost of the program planning cannot be
marked as feasible as the processes are multi-component dependent and thus, the program was
requiring a large amount of financial support (Rice et al. 2016).
Other than all these, it can be found that the process of the health program was
implemented with the consideration of the change in the health behaviour and the health outcome
of the community people. It can be stated that the health promotion program can be accounted
for the improvement of the health condition and also the effective change in the situation for the
population (Andrade et al. 2018). On the other hand, the educational development is very much
required for the health behaviour change. Thus, the multi-component health promotion program
is focused on the behavioural change and the effective education development of the population
for the reduction of the risk factors of diabetes. Hence, it can be stated that the health promotion
program is important as well as effective for this purpose (Sharma et al. 2019). Moreover, it can
