Research and state 2 professional nursing bodies that support and facilitate industry
networking. Provide a brief outline of what they offer to assist a nurse for industry
networking and professional development.
International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) offers continuing education via
Online Learning Center along with an international conference on forensic nursing science and
practice (Drake et al., 2018). Additionally, it offers certifications together with educational
guidelines. National League for Nursing (NLN) provides opportunities of networking, clinical
research grants, faculty development programs along with public policy schemes (Goolsby &
DuBois, 2017).
Outline 5 benefits that you as a nurse will get from engaging in industry networking
Industry networking helps in developing opportunities for career advancement and helps
in elevating participation in health care policies (Khokhar, 2017). Moreover, it provides an
exceptional apprehension of the latest nursing trends and provides an outlet for communication
with other practitioners. Lastly, through professional networking conferences, nurses’ exchange
of ideas is enhanced keeping their knowledge relevant and fresh.
To be able to review and improve your practices you must have an understanding of
your responsibilities and limitations as per the Enrolled Nurse Standards for Practice 2016.
Therefore outline the 3 key features to your scope of practice that identifies your
responsibilities and limitations
The key features are competence, accountability along with responsibility (Birks, Davis,
Smithson & Cant, 2016). Competence refers to the effectual application of skills, judgment, and
knowledge exhibited by a person in daily nursing practice. Accountability refers to the individual

nurse being answerable for their own or other's actions. Lastly, responsibility refers to nurses’
duty to work competently at an acceptable level to which the individual has been educated.
There are various models that explain the purpose and understanding of the
benefits of professional reflection, discuss one that you feel that you can relate to.
The model is the Gibbs model. It is a reflective cycle which motivates individuals to
think systematically on the experiences they encountered during a particular activity, situation or
an event (Barksby, Butcher, & Whysall, 2015). It is useful in helping people make sense of
situations at work to comprehend what they did perfectly and what they could do better in the
future. It is based on various phases during which one is required to answer many questions so as
to go as deep as possible with reflections. The stages which the model suggests include
description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, the conclusion along with an action plan which helps
to slow down thought processes to avoid jumping into conclusions very quickly.
