MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION
Introduction
The economic as well as political climate of the UK, EU is greatly impacted due to
BREXIT. The potential impact of separation has also impacted the business of both sides, and
thus the business is trying to adjust the operational as well as strategic management related
operations to circumvent the organizations from negative impact. The main aim of the paper
is to reflect on the organization "Evans Transport" which is one of the largest privately-
owned transport companies of south-west of England in order to showcase how the
organizational structure is helping the company to function effectively in the wake of Brexit.
Moreover, the paper also elaborates a modern management approach that could help the
company, with Brexit imminent. In addition to this, Michael Porters five forces framework is
also discussed.
Task 1: Introduction about the organization
The organization “Evans Transport” is one of the largest privately-owned transport
companies that is situated within the South West of England. It is found that in the year
1963, John Evans started a small timber as well as logging business and later in the year 1964
due to the rising demand formed a transport company named “Evans Transport” by
purchasing two vehicles which further enabled the organization to function properly within
the transport industry (Evans Transport, 2018). The main work of the organization is to
understand the various logistic needs of the customers and then creating as well as applying
the relevant service which will be suitable for the customers. The main scope of the
organization is to continue driving to be a market leader by utilizing the experiences in order
to build what is required for achieving the business goals and reinvesting within the business
for achieving future objectives. With the help of 150 lorries, the organization can deliver as

well as collect goods all around England and the demand for the transport service of the
organization is rising which is further helpful in raising the market value of the organization.
Task 2: Organizational structure and how this structure can help the
company function effectively
The organizational structure that is provided below reflects on a system that helps in
outlining how some of the activities are generally directed for achieving the goals of the
organization and how this structure is helpful in running the function of the company
effectively in the wake of Brexit (Van der Voet, 2014). The structure of the organization that
is provided helps in determining the information flows from one level of the organization to
the other level. Furthermore, it is found that the organizational structure assists in defining the
hierarchy of the organization.

MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION
The organization structure that is given above is helpful in providing a visual
representation of how the structure is shaped and how it is helpful in achieving the goals and
objectives of the organization. Proper organizational structure of the organization is helpful
for the employees of the organization as they get to know whom to report which is helpful in
enhancing efficiency as well as assists in providing clarity for each of the members within
each level of the organization (Wagner et al., 2014). Thus, each department of the
organization will be productive as they will be more focused on both time and energy.
With the help of proper organizational structure, the organization is growing in the
wake of Brexit. The main reason for achieving success is that with the structure of the
organization, proper flow of information can be achieved which further enhances the chances
of success. Moreover, the organizational structure assists in providing clear reporting
relationships so the members of the organization can be able to understand the
responsibilities to whom they are generally accountable (Lin, 2014). Moreover, it provides
clear relationships for the managers so that they can able to supervise the one who is in the
lower levels. Additionally, it is identified that the organization is growing rapidly by utilizing
the resources effectively (Ahamadzadeh & Ghahremani, 2016). The organization structure
helps in ensuring that the company generally has the right people in the right position.
Furthermore, the structure of the organization assists in facilitating the proper completion of
the organizational related activities.
Task 3: One modern management approach that could help the company,
with Brexit imminent
The situational approach is considered as one of the modern approaches that could
help the company with Brexit imminent. The Situational approach to management is
considered as one of the direct contradictions of the concept of universality management as

MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION
per which all the managerial concepts, as well as principles, can be applied so that the
organization can be able to achieve its objectives as well as goals (Bulitia, 2016). The main
aim of the situational approach is to avoid the utilization of general economic related theories
on the basis of valid assumptions. It is found that the situational analysis is applied so that the
work of the organization can be effectively managed. The theories of situation approach
select proper leadership styles that are dependent on the leadership-related situations (Lidya
et al., 2016). The managers of the Evans Transport adjust their orientation, decision making
as well as various motivational approaches based on their number of combinational factors in
various situations including the employee’s characteristics, types of work as well as
organizational structures.
As per the Fiedler's situational approach, it is identified that there is no proper or best
way for the organizational managers to lead the entire project. It is found that different
situations generally help in creating a number of leadership style related requirements for the
managers. It is found that the style that works within one environment does not work in the
other. Thus, the mangers of the Evans transport have different leadership styles and they cat
as per the situations and as a result, they can be able to get proper benefit by using their
leadership style though the situation is worse (Mgbere et al., 2017). The organizations focus
on the structure of the tasks, on the relationship of the members as well as on the positioning
power of the organization in order to work effectively for achieving success with Brexit
imminent.

Task 4: Michael Porters five forces framework for conducting an industry
analysis of the company
Michael porters five forces framework is considered is one of the analysis tools that
utilizes five different industry forces for determining the intensity of the competition within
an industry and its profitability level. The five forces framework is provided below:
Bargaining power of the suppliers: The bargaining power of the suppliers is low
and as a result, they can be able to sell the raw materials to their buyers at a reasonable price.
This directly helps in creating an impact on the profit of the organizations as it has to pay less
money for the materials (E. Dobbs, 2014). The suppliers have a low power of bargaining as
the number of suppliers are more in number and all the suppliers can be able to supply the
needed materials.
Bargaining power of the buyers: The bargaining power of the buyers are high and
as a result, they can demand a reduction of the prices of the transport service. Lower prices
from the buyers reflect that the revenue for the organization also reduces (Khoja, 2016). It is
found that the buyer bargaining power is high in the UK in context to the transport industry
as a number of buyers are present and additionally, there are many substitutes.

Threat of substitutes: This force is considered as threatening as the buyers can easily
find substitutes in the UK who generally can find substitute services at very much reasonable
prices and as a result, they can switch (Eskandari et al., 2015). This is mainly because there
are a number of transport companies in the UK who provides unique as well as substitute
services at a cheaper price and thus the buyers can easily switch.
Threat of entry: The transportation industry is quite profitable and as there is very
much less barrier to enter within the transport industry, the threats from new entrants are too
high. As in the UK, too many transportation companies are generally competing within the
market, thus there is the necessity of creating high barriers for entering by deterring new
entrants. The threats of new entrants within the transport industry are too high as very much
low amount capital is needed to enter within the market (Adi, 2015).
