INTRODUCTIONEvent management is the application of project management to the creation anddevelopment of large scale events such as sports events, festivals, conferences, conventions etc.It requires to make study about the brand, identification of target audience, making event conceptand coordinating the technical aspects before actually launching the event. The presentassignment report is based on Australian Commonwealth Games 2018 which are conducted inthe year 2018 for the six times ever. The project includes the process of biding by different cities,operational considerations, analyses of costs and various impacts such as financial, social andenvironment on Commonwealth Games (Bos, Brown and Farrelly, 2013). Background and OperationsBackground of Commonwealth GamesCommonwealth Games is an international multi-sport event which were established inthe year 1930 and has conducted every four years since then. Initially, Commonwealth Gameswere known as the British Empire games from 1930 to 1950, British Empire and CommonwealthGames from 1954 to 1966 and British Commonwealth Games from 1970 to 1974. In the year2018, it becomes first multi-sport event which includes equal number of women's and men'smedal events. Recently, Australia become the first nation who is hosting such sports event for sixtimes. Under this, there are more than 6600 athlete’s participants from 71 countries and has beenrecorded over one million spectators. It includes seven para-sports and ten core sports such asAthletics, Badminton, Hockey, Boxing, Lawn bowls, Weightlifting, Netball, Rugby 7s andSquash. The idea of starting this sports events were firstly proposed by John Astley Copper inthe year 1981 due to which the goodwill of British Empire has increased according to an articleof the Times. Commonwealth Games has achieved a special rank in the world of sports and isaccredited as the third major event after Olympics games and Asian games (Edwards andBowen, 2013). In Australian Commonwealth Games 2018, more than 4400 athletes tookparticipate among which Australia has sent a contingent of 469 athletes participating in all the 18sports staged. Australia has got 198 medals in total among which 80 were gold, 59were silverand 59 were bronze. It includes Swimming, Cycling, Lawn bowls, shooting etc.Significance of Commonwealth Games:1
