Technical event 1:
The event was mainly focused on AWRA-L model and website; detailing outputs and use. The
way Bureau of Meteorology uses AWRA-L to approximate antecedent soil moisture conditions
during operational flood warning for housing case. It was also discussing about the AWRA-L
modeling system corresponds to the availability of the input data and Australian water
availability project grids of daily rainfall, minimum and maximum air temperature and solar
radiation. This system also contains other components such as benchmarking and visualization.
The visualization allows the plotting of maps for any specific region by bounding box or a pixel
and the benchmarking consists of the model outputs against in-situ and remotely sensed soil
moisture. In a nutshell, thus system can be run in three primary modes which are interactive
simulation, plotting and benchmarking. The event helped in better understanding of the national
streamflow dataset along with satellite derived soil moisture and evapotranspiration estimates. In
the present condition of extreme dryness and shortage of water, this model is like a boon on the
Australian climate and sustainability
Non- Technical event 1:
It is one of the most exclusive opportunities to hear and learn about the enhanced charter
