2EVENTS DESIGN
Introduction
Weddings are one of the biggest events that people have in their lifetime. It is rightly said that
wedding is not only about the union of two people, it has many other sides to it and especially if it is a
multicultural wedding then there are many issues that are to be kept mind for designing the entire
wedding event. The report will deal with the designing a wedding that is multicultural in nature. The
bride for the event is Nigerian while the groom is British. Event design is an essential aspect of
conducting an event successfully as it makes sure that the things are planned beforehand for the event
to be successful. Event designing is the careful planning of the various components of an event that is
to be held, it one of the foremost responsibilities of the event management team (Richards, Marques
and Mein 2014). It is essential that permission and required authorization are taken from the officials
before the event is planned so that a freedom is prevalent in the execution of the plan. A multicultural
wedding has many aspects to it, the rituals and likings of the two cultures involved are widely varied
and it is essential that all the demands of the client is met. The guest list stays varied and it has to be
ensured that the event remains a memorable one for all of them. The Event designing ensures that all
such aspects are taken into consideration and the best of the facilities and arrangements are made
according to the needs of the clients. It creates a proper action plan for the people to work on at the
time of the event.
Purpose
The main purpose of the event was the marriage of English groom and an African bride. The
name of the groom was Mr Jason Root and bride’s name was Okoba Adele. The bride was from
Northern part of Nigeria while the groom was from Lancashire, England. The venue of the wedding
has been fixed as per the budget that was sanctioned for the marriage. It took place in Addington
Palace. The bride and the groom were presented with traditional clothing to wear on the day of their
wedding. It enhanced the multi cultural quality of the wedding and gave a representation of each of
their culture and respective countries.

The groom dressed up in the typical attire of the British look and it added to the multicultural
dimension of the wedding. The groom’s outfit was custom tailored and the morning coat enhanced the
British look on the groom. The bride had the Nigerian look on her, this variation was the highlight of
the wedding and both the communities were hence given same importance (Estin 2017). The bride
wore a princessy-bridal-ball-gown-wedding-dress-look. The bride look best in such princess dresses
on their wedding day and it matches seamlessly with the ambience of the wedding place.

Wedding car
The car in which the bride and groom leaves the wedding venue has to be in line with the
entire theme of the wedding. The grandeur of a multicultural wedding is highlighted more with the car
and decorations. For the current wedding, a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud was used and it had
incarnations put up in the front deck and a big red love sign made of roses in the rear with Just
Married written on it with white flowers. The decoration of the car was done beforehand and proper
care was taken that the flowers remain fresh throughout.

Entertainment design
Weddings are all about entertainment and fun. The venue of the wedding had separate area
and space for entertainment. The children had a section where they could play with soft toys and air
inflated jump on. For others, the arrangement had Disc Jockey who was assigned the duty of playing
melodies that would sooth the audience and brought people to waltz in the dance floor. A separate
floor was assigned for dance and couple dance was arranged along for the couples so that the wedding
remains memorable for every couple and they find their romance in the event. The DJ and dance area
was kept at a place that could be directly seen from the wedding place where the bride and groom
were positioned. The ones getting married were asked to dance and flowers were showered on the
couple once their dance was over and everyone cheered for them. The lighting of the dance floor was
regulated and mostly kept dim due to the romantic ambience set up that was planned for the wedding.

Environment design
The vintage wedding theme was used for the event. The entire place was decorated with white
and pink interiors and had huge chandeliers hanging from the top. The wooden chairs were covered
with clothes that had floral fabric detailing in them. The dining area was decorated with bottles of
vintage wine and the red wine included in the menu was a vintage piece. The metallic wedding cake
had a couple’s figurine right at the top. The area was lighted with yellow lamps in the evening and the
entire set up had an air of romance about it. Fresh lemonade scent was sprayed into the air at regular
intervals to make sure that the entire set up remains fresh and people remained amazed at the
freshness of the venue. A muted color palette was used in the environment along with slight pink and
gold incorporation in order to highlight the glamour of the entire event. The use of gold further made
the place look dreamy when the yellow lamps were turned on.

Production design
The scenic design for the wedding was arranged in a way that would make it stand apart from
others. The area for meeting and greeting in the hall had paintings on walls on the both sides. One of
the sides had painting that reflected the British tradition and on the other side there were paintings
which showcased the Nigerian and their various art forms. The diversity in the culture was used in
making the wedding venue more interesting (Barak 2016). The entire venue had projections on it from
the outside. As the sun set took place, the venue building had constant projection on it. The
projections had initials of the couple and love bubbles flying over their names. This redefined the
style of wedding as such a decoration is not commonly seen everywhere. The special day had special
audio set up. Other than the DJ at the dance area, there was a group of Nigerian singers posted at the
entrance that played songs of love to the audience and made them feel at home in the venue. The
soothing music was accompanied with lighting that enhanced the set up and comfort people.
